Hi, I've digested the Terrainlinks guide, and taken a look at all the different pdf's and I'm a little confused about where and in what ways the post to post connectors are used. Are these rarely used items? Also, I need to build a barn ( using Thoumonts ), it will require a hay loft which will not span the full length of the building but beyond that an open ceiling space. I can't see how I can do this as the trusses seem to rely on being attached to a floor tile at both ends. Can you create a building with an open space into the roof rather than with a "loft". Any suggestions on this please? Best regards Steve |

Hi, Yes I have the planner and I've been trying to get to grips with it. Here is what I have done so far. Any comments gratefully accepted. I've obviously created a barn door wall which I will use in either end and I plan to cut out the walls in the centre truss and replace them with see through plastic, so it looks like just plain beams holding the centre of the roof up. A couple things to note, nothing major: 1) I rotated the posts and slid them in place. 2) I changed the middle 1-way truss to be a 2-way truss 3) I rotated the roof pieces into correct position. 4) I added the connector pieces on the 2nd floor. 5) Umm... what was 5... I forget. 6) you might want to break the open area up using 3" walls instead, and stretch some connectors across like open beams. I'll mock that up for you in a second file. Right! #5 - I moved the trusses to be elements of the 2nd floor, rather than the third floor. I think of trusses as akin to walls. You put the walls on the same level as the floor the rest on. The same, I think, is true of the trusses. So, they're there. Of course, that means in this layout one truss kinda obscures a post-to-post connector, but oh well. It's cool to see some plans come through! That's great, thanks. I can see now how to use the connectors. The second version will be much more robust. Can't wait to get started now. edit: Am I right in thinking that the build manifest doesn't tell me which connectors to build? I can't seem to see them on there and am a little unsure which pages are which in the connectors file. edit 2: I think I've figured it, they are generic connector bodies and then it depends which anchor you put in!
