Post subject: | Interest in buying custom cut foam core to TLX specification |
Hey all, I've been speaking with a bunch of companies and have found out a lot about foam core custom cuts and I'm going to request a quote for die cut foam core board in the next day or two. EDITED BY MODERATORS Denny said: Ok, sorry to put a screeching halt on this one gang. This one falls into the gigantic "conflict of interest" bin. Just so its clear; For the past month we have been pursuing a relationship with a manufacturer to produce precut templates (of an as of yet unannounced material) for the TerrainlinX system. This is a licensing partnership so essentially, we'll earn a small percentage from any templates sold through them. We'll have an announcement regarding that situation very soon. We may offer additional template alternatives from other sources as well in future. I have no issues with you guys sharing info on potential alternative sources for precut templates. Unfortunately we are not ok with money changing hands to do some kind of bulk order for potential customers of unofficial products. We would prefer it if that was left to the individual user to track down themselves. Long story short, we have plans for officially licensed TerrainlinX mounts. Again, sorry for any confusion or inconvenience here. |

This sounds great, however I do have a question. When cutting the general shapes out (not the square notches), you need to angle the cut so that it bevels inward. This does make a big difference when attaching the tile to the foamcore. Do the die cuts do this beveled cut, or will they all be straight cuts? |

I'll be interested to see how it works for you. I too am waiting on prefab foamcore (and canals), so the sooner, the better. |

Nice projects, Loyd. I need to get you to make me a humidor! ![]() If you also have a table saw, you're one step ahead of me. I'll have to do my long rips with a clamped guide board and circular hand saw. Shouldn't be too bad, though...just a little inconvenient. I'm curious, did you run into the same issue I did? Made a tile or two and then cried yourself to sleep? ![]() Just wondering what others' impressions are regarding the level of effort of the tiles... |
