I haven't taken the dive yet and bought the set - I'm trying to figure out the level of labor required to get up and running, in addition to double and triple-checking my cost-per-page information. If you use adhesive-backed sheets to do the TLX floor tiles, how does that work with the interlocking tabs? In other words, wouldn't you run into problems with the tabs adhering to the top and bottom? Is there a different material recommended for the TLX system? What adhesives work best? |

In a word, yes, it would get in the way unless you had a piece of paper over the slots. I got sick of my glue warping tiles and have gone back to using double stick tape. Don't need to cover the foamcore. Just along the edges and maybe a piece or two in the middle. So far so good! |

I currently use Scotch permanent double stick. I have not had any issues yet, but my oldest piece is only about two years old and has seen no gameplay. As long as you burnish REALLY well, I don't think you should run into any issues. |

Have you tried the self-adhesive foam board products? I ran into some at . The "Hi Tack" doesn't seem smart (instant permanent bond == major headaches), but the regular version is re-positionable until burnished. No bulges in the paper, no glue to deal with, a consistent level of "stick" across the board, and less labor (assuming the marketing flim-flammery is true) |

I can confirm that adhesive foam board works very, very well. The stuff I am using is specifically Elmer's Repositionable Self-Adhesive Foam Board that I picked up at Staples/Office Depot. You still need a little bit of glue for the bottom flaps, but that's nothing. There seem to be a few advantages to it. First, even though the adhesive foam board is a little more expensive than regular board the cost is still far lower than buying massive amounts of sticker paper instead. It is more expensive than just gluing regular paper to board but much, much less work for a far more even product. Next, it lets you use the same card stock for your tiles as you are in the rest of your build. This makes for a more consistent look because colours always print a little different on different types of papers. This also means that your tiles are going to be more robust and less prone to wear and tear just because card stock is more durable than sticker paper. So if you see some, I'd recommend that you give it a shot. |
