Did you have to increase the box size any to do that? I had looked at it, bu my tiles did not want to fit in the standard size tile box. After all box an tile are the same size.

In my opinion, a second alternative for the "urban tiles box" are to print at 87% Mayhem downtown. 7inch to 6 give 86%, but we need 87% to win 1mm and insert the TLX tiles.

A 87% downtown can stock 25 TLX tiles.

Looks good. How well does it fit in to a TLX layout? Did the extra 1mm on the base throw things off any? That is one thing like about your first box design. I just drop it in to my TLX layout an it just acts like a giant tile.

Just starting with TLX and find this, wow thanks dude, I want to make some from the Lost halls set to fit my Dwarf hold.

How would I go about building the box's that slot into a board like a standered TLX tile?

I would basically glue to box on top of a regular TLX tile, if that makes sense.

For mine I did not even bother. when I use it in a layout I just make sure it is surround by normal tiles. They hold it in place just fine.

I've looked at all the options of acrobat reader (v 9), and I haven't been able to find any way to specify the size of the printed image...

I believe that will need to be done in the printer properties box. Every printer is different, but if you hunt around in printer properties you should be able to find it. Hope that helps.

I had, in the past, made a fair number of the storage boxes, but one complaint of mine is that they never felt "sturdy" to me, and with humidity, the sides would warp, and it just bugged me.

So yesterday I made a foamcore prototype tile box. It's not perfect (the front corners could be skinned better, as an example, or I could use rabbets like in Sholto's builds) but it works pretty well. 6.25" is a hair larger than the footprint needs to be for a really glove-like fit on the tiles, but I'm okay with them sitting a little loosely.

The hardest part as figuring out the sizing to accommodate the width of 5mm foamcore for the lid and side-walls, but using imperial measurements.

Swanky. I made a similar one with a lid a while back. I love using it, but think that the future will hold more specifically textured versions for my shelf.

I have some custom labels I made to tell me what's actually in the boxes for the wall boxes (using a little HMV Streets badge, or a Sewers badge), and for the tile boxes I can look at the edges of the tiles and tell which set it is

Made another upgrade on the boxes I am using. I notice a slight lack of strength when building exactly to demielf's specs. I have started to use two anti-warp walls in my boxes. Between that and the wall/post inserts I am now getting nice ridged boxes.

Are there directions anywhere? I'm kinda dense...

The last page of the Boxes3.pdf. What is this piece for? Where does it go?

My first inclination is to think it is glued to the bottom of the box, with the "tag" sticking out of the slot. But... I'm not sure.

The last page contains optional dividers to put between walls or tiles. The divider includes a label area that sticks out above the walls or in front of the tiles making it easy to identify each group of walls/tiles.

The last page of tilebox_6inch.pdf - I assume that's the pdf you're talking about - that's a separator for the floor tiles. You'd rest that on top of a floor tile, and the tab would poke through the front of the box where it's open. Nothing to glue - just a separator.

The last page of all the pdf files are just separators so you can get at pieces from different sets easier.

Wow, sorry for the necromancy, but I just found this thread. Some excellent work done in here by all, and I felt somehow compelled to throw my .02 in. Someone earlier mentioned the flimsiness of a paper box, and the concern for warpage came up too, and people seem to really like the TLX boxes. My concern with the boxes shown here is that you can't REALLY link them into your terrain. They can sit there and look like part of it, but I thought it'd be cooler if it could TLX right in there with everything else. A few minutes in sketchup gave me this:


4-6x6 TLX Tiles, with foamcore sides instead of walls and posts. I'm not sure how many walls you could pack in there, but there's room for 10 6" tiles, and another stack of 10 3x6, or 20 3x3 tiles. Of course you could pack in whatever you've got. A couple of bin areas for posts and you're on your way. Not enough room? Stack another one on top. Change the rail locations, and put the bins elsewhere...it'd be super easy. Note on the textures, I used stock textures in sketchup, tried to make the outside look like the Mayhem brick - could use the apartment set textures to make a very convincing apartment block to house everything.

Would probably be pretty easy to put the Necroblock textures on there as well - depending genre you're going for of course.

I would prefer it to be the height of a two floor build, but love the idea of my storage boxes being 1'x1' instead of 6"x6".
