I have find a better solution. In my opinion, a second alternative for the "urban tiles box" are to print at 87% Mayhem downtown. 7inch to 6 give 86%, but we need 87% to win 1mm and insert the TLX tiles. A 87% downtown can stock 25 TLX tiles. In my opinion, the scale are good. |

I had, in the past, made a fair number of the storage boxes, but one complaint of mine is that they never felt "sturdy" to me, and with humidity, the sides would warp, and it just bugged me. So yesterday I made a foamcore prototype tile box. It's not perfect (the front corners could be skinned better, as an example, or I could use rabbets like in Sholto's builds) but it works pretty well. 6.25" is a hair larger than the footprint needs to be for a really glove-like fit on the tiles, but I'm okay with them sitting a little loosely. The hardest part as figuring out the sizing to accommodate the width of 5mm foamcore for the lid and side-walls, but using imperial measurements.

Swanky. I made a similar one with a lid a while back. I love using it, but think that the future will hold more specifically textured versions for my shelf. |

I have some custom labels I made to tell me what's actually in the boxes for the wall boxes (using a little HMV Streets badge, or a Sewers badge), and for the tile boxes I can look at the edges of the tiles and tell which set it is

Wow, sorry for the necromancy, but I just found this thread. Some excellent work done in here by all, and I felt somehow compelled to throw my .02 in. Someone earlier mentioned the flimsiness of a paper box, and the concern for warpage came up too, and people seem to really like the TLX boxes. My concern with the boxes shown here is that you can't REALLY link them into your terrain. They can sit there and look like part of it, but I thought it'd be cooler if it could TLX right in there with everything else. A few minutes in sketchup gave me this: 4-6x6 TLX Tiles, with foamcore sides instead of walls and posts. I'm not sure how many walls you could pack in there, but there's room for 10 6" tiles, and another stack of 10 3x6, or 20 3x3 tiles. Of course you could pack in whatever you've got. A couple of bin areas for posts and you're on your way. Not enough room? Stack another one on top. Change the rail locations, and put the bins elsewhere...it'd be super easy. Note on the textures, I used stock textures in sketchup, tried to make the outside look like the Mayhem brick - could use the apartment set textures to make a very convincing apartment block to house everything. Where's my glue? |

Would probably be pretty easy to put the Necroblock textures on there as well - depending genre you're going for of course. |

I would prefer it to be the height of a two floor build, but love the idea of my storage boxes being 1'x1' instead of 6"x6". |
