Any tips on the quickest, neatest, and most efficient way to cut TLX tile notches out of foamcore with a razor? This is the best I've come up with (I separated the #s so you can see the overcuts). I make cuts in this order (1-4), over-cutting each one slightly so that the cut out tab comes free. I have the most trouble with cut 3 and the tab not being completely cut free so I make a small cut, #4, to free the tab. If I don't use cut #4, I have to over-cut #3 about 1/8" to get the foam notch to come out. UPDATE: I cut freehand for this. Any better ways? Related, I've tried looking for and creating a tool (a punch) to cut out a notch but no luck. I'm sure someone with the right tools and knowledge could come up with some device that can cut one notch in one punch. |

That's almost exactly what I do, free-hand as well. Although I cut all my 1s and 2s around the tile first, then I cut all my 3s all the way around, then I cut all my 4s and remove the now-separated tabs. (I tend to do things assembly-line style like that. My experience is it goes quicker.) |

After lots of experimenting, this is what works best for me: 1. Cut sides of notches closest to me, rotate 90 degrees, repeat 3x. 2. Cut long edges of notches to my right and left, rotate 180, repeat. 3. Rotate 90 degrees and repeat #2. Also, . It does most cuts at perfect right angles (or 45 degree angles) in one or two strokes, and the foam never crinkles up on me as long as I keep the blades fresh. |

Look for art supply shops, usually found around college campuses. They will usually carry the more esoteric and niche art supplies, such as blades for that particular cutter. |
