Post subject: | Productive Few Days for Building |
I have not printed anything WWG related on my own printer for over a year. This is due to it not printing square (and also since I have had access to a printer and a robocutter via a player). Today, I decided to try and mess with the page scale in Photoshop in order to make it square. After some printing I came to the conclusion that it was off by a minimal amount...not noticeable in the two inch height of walls and posts. Long story short, I got some walls and posts printed, cut, edged and glued. The total came to something like 24+ walls and 32 two way posts, all of which is HV: Streets. I have some more to get done before doing a review of the set, but honestly could review it now...I just want even more on the table before I move onto the next set to build. I felt the need to share the productive feeling I have relating to this hobby, despite working 60+ hours this week teaching eighth graders and the wife and I still figuring out what it is like to be parents (eight weeks today!). |

My printer is also off a tiny amount in one direction -- more so if I print from Preview than if I print from Acrobat Reader. I haven't noticed it causing any issues yet. |

The place I noticed the difference was with my first large layout using tiles. Being off by even 1/32" in the length of one tile is enough to be off by 1/4" in the length of eight tiles. That is noticeable, especially when not every tile sits the same direction in order to minimalism being out of square. I plan on getting a ramp completed today and a staircase. I am planning on reinforcing them with foamcore so I am unsure how long it will take, but I am already done cutting, edging and my initial gluing prior to assembly (did it last night). |

Laser or ink? If Laser go to advanced options and tick the box "print as picture" - it stops the weird ass off-sets. Ink - ..... ummm they should work out of the box. I know Mel has shifted back to ink (I am thinking of it too) for this and other reasons. Oh and Happy eighth week Birthday! Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |

It took me longer than anticipated to get unpacked to the point that I was ready to begin the build process again. It has been slow going, but this week I have completed 6 or 8 tiles. I plan to keep going and get a decent chunk of tiles, walls, posts and rails done in short order. I would love to have an excuse to go and get a new printer for the holidays. |

Wednesday and Thursday proved to be productive (although not as much as I would have liked). I will post details later, but it seems as though i am nearing the finish line with this project. I would guess a couple days of hitting it hard would finish everything up. I am starting to feel accomplished (although not nearly the quantity that is seen in menace's (Tomas') build). |

Lets face it, its going to be hard for most people to match that build regardless of how many pieces they've built. I simply don't have a table that big. Judging by the gallery, most people have to fit their layouts on a dining room table. |

There's also an issue of accessibility - your layout's shortest dimension has to be within arm's reach or you can't really play on the setup. |
