Any on of some nice tips on getting good square posts? Especially two-way corner posts. I get them to work but they end up of square noticeably , and sometimes have a problem of the paper spreading on the bend scores. |

I can tell you it is definitely user error. Most everything else I am getting good builds on, just something about the those small posts is difficult. Scoring is a real pain on them. I tend to use very sharp blades to make most of the other cutting easy so they make for terrible scoring. Scoring is a difficult task. If you can get a crease with out cutting the paper you get a really pretty fold but it is not very sharp of an angle. If you get cut the paper you get a nice sharp angle but lost of ugly white. |

I use a wood awl to score. I hold it almost horizontal so the tip drags like a tail. It leaves a nice crease without cutting through all the paper. |

I use a crocheting needle encased in a wood handle to make the score lines instead of cutting into the cardstock. A shallow depression is made along the fold line that allows a nice fold. It works in reverse scoring too. The following photo shows the tools used. The bottom one is an old embossing tool that I used to use. Those are 1" (25.4mm) squares. |

I generally use the back of the craft knife for scoring. Alternately I use an empty ballpoint pen. The Auld Grump |
