I love every single WWG product I've purchased. I think you guys make fantastic stuff. That's why it bugs me so much when I find things in sets that are clearly ... I don't know. Mistakes? Against the standard? Here's an example of what I mean: Look at the TLX Tree Walls.pdf in TLX Hinterlands. Page 1 (3wall.pdf) uses black dotted line to indicate the score line in the middle of the page. So does page two. When you get to Page 4 (endwall.pdf) the black dots start out dots, swap to a black solid line, and finish up as dots. Page 5 (Forest3Post.pdf) eschews the dots in the middle of the page altogether and just has a black solid line. Solid lines, elsewhere on the same page mean CUT, not SCORE. And then, just to make things fun, on Page 6 (Forest4Post.pdf), there's NO LINE AT ALL. Let's mosey over to TLX Himmelveil Streets. citywall2_6inch.pdf has has mix of white dashed lines, black dotted lines, grey dotted lines, black cut lines, and a green cut line. I know that to anyone familiar with constructing for TLX -- and I have done enough of it to be able to do this blindfolded ![]() Obviously because you guys are working with a colored product, there's no color you can use to 100% work on every printout -- in some places, a white dotted line wouldn't be visible, and in other places a black dotted line wouldn't be visible. But surely someone can take a few seconds to check for dotted vs dashed vs a missing line? Or would it help if we pointed out these things as we find them, so that they can be fixed for future uses? |

Appearances, my friends, can be decieving. The TLX system uses white and black dashed score lines. When you put these on a dark texture, you get the appearance of a white dashed line. When you put these same dashed lines on a light texture, they look like they are black dashed lines. The standard templates are all the same, they just look different with diffent textures. As for the cut lines, these are always solid black or solid green. We use solid black lines on the edge of a model (as a divide between the texture and the white of the page) the solid green lines are used when you have a cutline with textures on both sides. This makes it easier to see those lines and most of all, it makes sure you don't accidentally cut on a black line that is just part of the texture. We only use them there because the green can be somewhat intrusive if it would be used everywhere. Nobody cuts perfectly on a line and the green would show on the edges of your models. That being said, the designers are still only human (except for Paul of course. Everybody knows he is secretly an ambassador from planet steam punk, posing as a human). So there are always little inconsistencies that can slip into a set. We'll see if we can pay more attention to that. |
