I know that one of the biggest advantages to the TLX system is that we can build almost anything we can dream up. But What if we are not very good at the 'dreaming up' part? Actually in looking at the beautiful layouts achieved by the designers on the product pages of the various sets I find myself wanting to build these more than anything else. Also I am very new to the paper modeling world and could use the head start. I own all the fantasy TLX sets and my Silhouette SD RoboCutter just arrived today but I am wondering where to start. Basically I'm just asking if there is a repository of TLX Planner saves/exported-maps somewhere I can look through and find something to build. Any thoughts? Thanks, Colin |

Thanks, that stuff is indeed very inspiring! Is there a page like this that includes TLX Planner saves/layouts so I can plug them into the software and know what pages I need to print etc? |

Yeah is there any way that the permissions can be relaxed on uploading so that people can upload wws files? I came on to share an inn plan, but I can't upload the WWS file extension (nor the txt extension for manifests even....) I can link images, but that would just take up more space, please allow .wws files! |

Is the problem that the forum software will not allow uploading the TLX-Planner files? I don't see why it would be a problem to allow it. They don't contain any textures capable of reproducing the PDFs etc. It may simply be a security feature of the server software they are using to prevent people spreading virus infected .exe files and the like. I wonder if it would allow you to upload if you renamed the file to be a .jpg or something... |

You could always zip them and upload the zip..; They do zip well, being text files... |

It's a phpBB3 thing, it won't allow unknown extensions by default.... if they want to relax it to allow uploading of them, they need to: Go into the adminstration control panel Click on the 'Posting' tab Click on manage extensions on the right hand side at the top at add extensions, type wws (no period or anything else) and make it type documents click on attachment settings make sure at the top in 'Allow attachments' is clicked 'Yes' If they want to ensure that only wws files are uploaded so that it doesn't eat up too much server space, they can restrict the file size to something that is reasonable for a decent sized build (my bigger builds are 50-60ish KB but I'm sure people have larger builds.....) EDIT: I tried this on my own phpBB board, so I'm sure the above is accurate. |

Wow Veskit, great info! Now all we need is admin access... Seriously though, I do hope they implement these changes as I would love to start a TLX Planner Repository for builds. I think it would help generate interest in the planner and lead to more downloads as well. I imagine the layout of repository posts would be something like: Build name: Short Description: TLXP wws File: Photo (optional): That way people could post both things they have used the Planner to complete as well as builds they are just envisioning. Although, I suppose we could start this already just by zipping up the wws files first, as Akmor suggested. Then if it takes off they might have more of an impetus to allow posting of Planner files without the need to zip/unzip them. |

I would recommend zipping them anyway--for one thing, you can put several planner files into a single archive. Also, we wouldn't have to worry about somebody's wonky browser trying to open a planner file as a text file, and smaller files are kinder to our bandwidth. Yes, I know, text files aren't huge, but it adds up over time.

Good point, thanks for the input! If there are no copyright problems etc with sharing Planner files (and I assume there are not) then I will start a 'Build Repository' thread today. My first build is quite simple so I don't expect it to wow anyone, but if other people share then it might take off. Hopefully it will lead to more people using the Planner as well. |
