It's not exactly a bug report, but the the program uses CTRL+C/CTRL+V for copy and paste on a Mac, and the correct shortcuts should be CMD+C/CMD+V, which are the system-wide copy and paste shortcuts.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and Jave SE 6 (as reported under "Java Preferences"). I am fully patched and up-to-date, thanks to the magic of Software Update

Hi, this is my first post so please tell me if I do something wrong...

I'm having problems with the Tlinx planner only loading in four of the five sets of tiles. Streets, Sewers, Sewers Booster and Canals seem to appear just fine, but Lost Halls of the Dwarven Kings used to only show up a few times, and now it does not show up at all.

I'm running Windows XP and use Java 6

As a side note I absolutely love WWG and think you guys do great work.

Hrrrm, that seems odd. The only reason I could see this being a problem is if somehow the location of files within the main folder was messed with or there is some corruption of a file from a bad unzipping. Make sure LostHalls.tlx is in the <main_folder>/Resources/Tile_Sets folder. If it is try unzipping or redownloading the main file again.

After saving the map as an image, if you save it (as an image) again and click on the image file (to overwrite it), it adds extra text on again.

1/. Save your map as an image (e.g: "Canal_Layer 1").
2/. Save your map again and click on the file in the 'Save Image' dialogue box to overwritre.
3/. It will now save the image as "Canal_Layer 1.png_Layer 1"

Using Windows 7 Home & the latest Java V6 Build 17.

Pressing the red close button doesn't give the opportunity to save your map, it just quits (as I've just found out )

Both are fixed and will be in the next update.

The image save has been modified so that it will not put an extra .png in the file name if there's already one there.

Needlessly long winded explanation follows:

As far as adding the extra naming text on it, that's still in there. When a previous png is selected its full name is taken as what you'd like the prefix of the new png image to be. There's no way of telling which part of the name was the original prefix because the names of the tabs that the final image file names are based on can change.

For example:

You save an image with the name BlahBlah and two tabs are named layer_1 and layer_2 the names are as follows:

BlahBlah_layer_1.png
BlahBlah_layer_2.png

While in the course of editing your layout you change the name of the first tab to "sewer" and the second tab to "surface". You go to save the image, click on "BlahBlah_layer_2.png" because you want to use the same prefix. The program tries to figure out the original prefix by comparing the chosen file name to existing tab names to to see where they occur to deduce what the desired prefix is. Since neither tab name is in the file name anymore, the program doesn't know what the prefix is, divides by zero and explodes (not really).

There's probably a way to accomplish this, but it'd be needlessly complicated when the user could just input a new file name or select an old saved png and take off the excess text.

I am having trouble starting TLX Layout planner on my mac. when i try and star it I get "The Java Jar file "terrainlinX_Planner.Jar" could not be launched. Check the Console for possible error messages"
I am using Mac OS 10.5.8

any ideas as to why this is happening? id love to get it too work as I have just bought the city, sewer, canals and sewer expansion in preparation for WWG's addition to our rpg group (were really stoked by the prospect of 3D terrain.

First thing is to make sure your Java is the latest version.

Do this by clicking the apple on the menu bar (top left by default) and then choosing "Software Update" and installing the updates.

If you do have the latest Java software then try to run it again but then open the Console to check the error message, to do this:

Go to your Applications folder then select Utilities and in there click Console. Once you have console running try to run the Planner and then post the error message that the console gives.

thanks for the tip on how to open console. I have the latest Java (6 SE) and have recently done a software update. I have also re-downloaded the program to see if that helps but so far nothing. this is what appears to be the error in the console

Hi guys.
No matter what I just cant get to have the streets resurce file to open. When I open the planner it only opens sewers, canals and the sewers exp. I can get it to load lost halls but not streets. When I close the planner it goes back to missing lost halls and streets. Everything else works fine and I am at a loss. I have tried unzipping and downloading the prgram a couple of times but still no joy. I have java 6 with update 17 and vista 64 OS.

Problem: No way to add the Arc walls from Vault of the Ancients.

Operating system and Java Version do not seem to matter.

Problem: When opening a new map, doesn't ask to save the one you're working one if you've changed it, just as a fail safe.

(small) problem in the (updated) planner:

Tools -> Option -> "Default Playing Area Width" is also used for "Default Playing Area Height", if you just exit and restart the planner. But my table is a rectangle, not a square

But ..

you can exit the program, edit config.cfg manually, restart, and have the correct, probably differing, values.

If I try to place a stair on a balcony it ends up under the balcony and can't be seen.
Shouldn't it be placed on top of the balcony as this is were the actual model will be?

I use Vista 64, don't have a java icon in my Control Panel, but just in the last hour downloaded the most recent version from the Sun site and installed it (edit: Version 6, Update 20). Since I got the planner a week ago I've made a few layouts, which saved appropriately under their names. But when going in and modifying, I've discovered that sometimes my layouts will have reverted back to their original state from a week ago. Obviously, this can be discouraging when good progress is made!

Through some experimentation, I've discovered that the save button icon on the toolbar does not work on my system at all. If I go into the menu and select the save or save as option there will be no problem - if I just close the program and click the yes button for the save option there will be no problem. But the disk icon itself doesn't do anything at all.

I now save updates to my plans under different names reflecting different builds, as well as go into the menu to do my saving. But this may be a problem for other people too.

* Nature of the problem

This seems like it would be a simple fix, but I could be wrong as I don't personally code in Java. Basically, the "Default Playing area width/Height" areas of the configuration area do not stay locked in once set and saved. I've tried exiting out and re-spawning the Terrainlinx Planner tool to see if this was perhaps something that wouldn't take until it was restarted, but the issue remained: the defaults keep going back to 6' x 6' regardless of what the values are manually changed to. Again, this isn't that big of a deal for me, as I've ended up setting this manually within the application, but it is sort of a shame to not have it working correctly. Everything else seems to be running fine (I only just bought this last week and have had a chance to try it out).

On a side note, it would be nice in hindsight if the Terrainlinx Planner tool were listed in the "game aides" section of the online store instead of "Fantasy", as I would've never thought to look there to find it (I'm only interested in modern/sci-fi/cyberpunk type RPG's mainly). Considering that support is available for at least two genres of terrain, it would seem odd not to list it in a more general category in my opinion.

Basically, when using either the GUI-based copy command or the keyboard shortcut (in Windows, Ctrl+c), and nothing is selected, a user can still paste that empty item into the workarea; this should not be possible. A possible fix might be to make an exclusionary based code trap that would watch for empty selection sets (an ID that would equal 0, null or even a negative number could be used as a rule if this were a script)

When trying to use the "Save image" commands, no image is saved. This occurs regardless of the work area size.

When trying to use the "Print Image" command, images are cropped when the work area is 6' x 4'. This happens when printing directly to a printer and also when printing to a virtual printer such as the Adobe Acrobat distiller plugin, regardless of printer settings.

Steps to replicate:
Make a map, define a playing area.
Save map.
Close program.
Reopen program, and load saved map
The playing area rectangle is still displayed, but the size shows 0'0" for both width and height.
