What might be an idea is to put all the requests in one post, that way it will stop people asking for things that have already been requested. Just a though.

That's kind of the idea of this thread. I was hoping people would read the requests before making additional ones. Though that's not to say they can't cast their vote for previously requested features.

When we get closer to a software update we'll post all included features in the first post of the thread.

That's in. Q and R to rotate a tile. It was a late addition so I didn't get around to updating the help text or anything.

I belive that a lot of people are looking at that not only as a way to help in the construction of your sets (as I suposse it was what it was aimed for) but as a tool to create maps to use online, or printed...etc (here the questions about import data in it)... So maybe you have to be clear about what it would do and not... or take a moment to think about the posibilities here...

I belive the chance of selling it as a more "open" planner would be beneficial in terms of sales (as I belive you have noted) but maybe too consuming in time...

For now our focus is strictly on WWG properties and assets. The TerrainlinX planner is ultimately a tool to give users of our products a good understanding of how our sets can be used both in a single plain and a multi-level context. There are other tools available out there that allow random imports of this and that but they tend to fall short because they try to be "everything to everybody". By focusing on TLX and our catalog we are better able to narrow down and really nail functionality, while maintaining our high production standards.

That's not to say we won't consider some form of user imported content in future but in the short term our focus is on making the planner the best it can be within the constraints of our properties. That also ties into much more ambitious plans we have for this software which we can't yet get into out in the open.

Crap, woops. You're right. I did it this way in case I end up implementing keyboard movement, so it'd be FPS style controls: WASD movement and QE rotate.

First, I want to say: You've got some amazing products here, and I'm glad I stumbled on the site!

Feature Request: A keyboard shortcut to delete, and if backspace or a similar key is already supposed to do this "delete" on my Mac doesn't.

Feature Request: A button to turn on and off the visibility of the walls/railings/stairs/posts and a separate button to turn on and off the visibility of the icons.

After I draft a map it gets really cluttered and it'd be really nice to be able to temporarily shut off the display of the icons and the rest of the non-tile images so I can see the tiles again to make changes to the base layout without destroying my buildings. And it would be nice to have the icons on a separate visibility switch as they are the primary culprits in hampering visibility.

Feature Request: A hotkey to select all walls/posts/railings at once to allow easy placing of a building. It's difficult to select all of the walls/posts/railings you've placed if you have a larger structure and this makes adjusting it's over all position difficult. Additionally copying the bottom building layout to another layer to allow for a quick second floor construction would be easier with this type of feature.

The delete key _should_ be a shortcut to delete selected tiles.

I'm thinking for some of the other requests to consolidate them into a single button that works like the transparency button in that it switches between locking, hiding, and normal and have separate button to do this for tiles and symbols.

I just ran the planner and tried deleting some tiles, railings, walls and posts with the delete button on my keyboard to no avail. I'm not sure if this is a Mac related issue, but I'm running the latest Java and the latest version of OSX - brand new MacBook Pro.

As for the other idea, that's sounds perfect for my visibility issue! And locking would be great too, if by locking you mean the objects become unselectable - I've had a few hang ups where I wanted to select a tile or post but had a hard time because of the walls cluttering up the space above them.

A workaround for the walls/posts thing may be to do them on their own layer. I may have to try that later.

Feature Request: A 'Recently Used' list under the File menu as a quick way to load in the last thing you were working on.

Feature Request: Ctrl Z = Undo

Notes: Well I have accidentally deleted/moved tiles, it would be handy to just undo this error and move on.

Or possibly a Layers/Sheets method similar to Campaign Cartographer. (A layer might be Floor 1, sheets for Floor 1 might be Tiles, Walls & Posts, Props, GM Data.)

<b>Notes:</b> The current door icon is roughly the size of a 3x3 tile, and completely obscures everything under it. A better size would be 1x1.

Feature Request Well maybe not a feature but an idea to help promote sets. Maybe a few days before you release future sets you have an update to the planner that includes them. That way people can play around with the tiles before they are released thus gaining possibly more buyers and also quicker pictures of fan builds of sets to the site since people will already have plans at purchase.

That's the plan guys however I'm not so sure we'll be able to get tile previews out to you before a product release. We'll do our best though. Each new tile set will be available for download via that products page.

Feature Request #1: Ability to type in the Play Area instead of using the up/down arrows. I'd like to be able to just tab and type (I use more keyboard shortcuts vs mousing since I'm a 'NIX user)

Features Request #2: WWG to create an "open architecture" or plug in ability with licensing so other cardstock manufacturers can license the ability to have their sets plug into the planner for use. (yes I know it allows competitor products to be used with WWG stuff, but this product is so good that it would allow for WWG to create a new revenue stream AND support what customer's do anyway).

Some features I would like to see is more makers:

Secret Door.
Locked Door.
Trapped Door.

with the option to click on any marker to bring up a small note box which you can add notes to so you know exactly what the marker does.

Looking at the problem of moving layers around if you need to build under that's already there, why not make the default layer (when the program starts) something like layer 7 instead of 1 then when making a new layer the user could be asked above or below current layer. Just a though.

It should already. If you saved your map with a file name already then it saves over the last file name used. It just doesn't notify you that it's doing it.

Now that Mayhem is part of the system, are we going to get a planner set for them also?

Mayhem: Streets of Legend & Mayhem: Armoury #1 will both be included in the forthcoming update. Basically anything and everything that is based on TerrainlinX will be made available for the planner.

Feature Request: Tile & Flat Markers

Notes: The tile markers are nice for objectives. However, sometimes you need to place a flat marker because of space constraints.

Feature Request: Building Dimensions ("Building Mode")

Notes: You can currently change the play area manually and add layers manually. Ideally, it would be nice with Mayhem Buildings and Thoumont's Buildings if you could click a button to go into "Building Mode" which has toggles for the footprint of the building and the number of layers required. Then, the system will automatically bring up the adjusted grid and add the layers as needed. I would have a pop-up for Building Mode giving the following input-capable boxes: Length / Width / Sub-Layers / Layers. The current click system is really annoying for starting a grid but is excellent for tweaking the size if you want to add on a couple inches.

Feature Request: 3D Mode

Notes: This goes along with Building Mode and will be an xyz rotatable view of your model.

3-D is something I've been pushing for but as you can imagine its a BIG damn can-o-worms. If/when we can implement that it will likely be a completely recoded version of the planner. A relaunch for that kind of thing is likely.

Anyway, I just want you to know that its something we all want and hopefully we'll be able to implement it in a future "deluxe" version.

Any chance we'll see the flat marker idea?
