Hi everybody, I've bought TerrainLinX Planner a few hours ago, and unpacked the archive with Winrar. However, I only get "*.class" files after unpacking. No setup, or any "*.exe* files to run. Mattter of fact, the only file types in the whole package that my system (Win XP) recognizes/knows are the "*.png" files. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! |

Hey Vandedhan, First question; have you installed the latest version of Java? http://www.java.com/en/ The TerrainlinX Planner requires this free backbone to run properly. Second question; more of a suggestion really but re-download the file from our store and unzip it into a single newly created folder on your system. Just to make sure your zip archive wasn't corrupted during download. |

Denny - what icon should I be clicking to make the planner start running - got Java - re-downloaded the file - unzipped to it's own file - still no luck getting it to run. Help! |

The file you should be starting is called TerrainlinX_Planner.jar It should have a little Java-Logo on it. |

For those who run Winzip, it will attempt to claim jar files as it's own. To fix this, right-click on the file and hit Open With, if Java is there, try hitting it, it should run fine. You can make this permanent though the same menu, simply hit browse instead, select Java, and make sure the "Always use this program with this filetype" option is selected. |

I think confusion like this could be quickly remedied if the video tutorial were packed in with the Terrainlinx software, rather than only being provided online via Youtube. Granted, a user could watch the video prior to buying the software, but not everyone will always use it immediately after purchase. In my case, I didn't get around to playing with the software until today despite having bought it last week; I ended up having to re-watch the tutorial to understand what some of the tools/icons meant anyway (ie: "add tab" is synonymous with "add layer"; being a Photoshop/Painter user, the term "layer" would've been more understandable to me). |
