I chose the 1.5-inch grid because it allows more wiggle room for 25mm minis.

For the two dungeon levels, I went with a 3.5-foot square playing area made up of 7X7 6-inch plain floor tiles from 'Lost Halls'. Then I laid out my walls and connectors atop that to create each level of the dungeon.

For the Blockade, I ghosted the dungeon level below it and began with laying out the walls and posts. After the walls were placed, I added floor tiles from 'Lost Halls' and 'HV: Sewers' under the walls. I will use 'Hinterlands' and 'Village Works' tiles to create the outdoor area outside the blockade.

The two watchtowers have stairs that lead up from the ground level to trapdoors in the floor of the towers' platforms. The west-most tower (left tower) tile needs to be a custom cut tile that is a 4.5-inch square that creates a 3X3 grid.

I'm contemplating using the double tall posts from 'Lost Halls' or the post-n-beam system from 'TLX: Thoumonts' to increase the height of the watch towers. then i need to figure out how to run the stairs in a square spiral up to the platforms of the watchtowers.

I will use 'Hinterlands' to create the cliffs adjacent to the island that is Thistletop. And the wooden walkway from 'Swamp Woods Village' to make the wood & rope bridge that connects the cliff to Thistletop island.

Right now my laser printer is kaput, so this project is just in the planning stages. If my group gets past this before my printer is up and running again, it may not get beyond the planning stage.

But I thought this might be helpful to anyone else trying to create the same setting.

Say, did you ever build this? I just got Lost Halls for exactly the same purpose. My PCs are struggling in the briar maze outside Thistletop at the moment, so it may be a few weeks before I need it. But not too long!
