While I've lurked here quite a bit over the years, I've decided I needed to register for a rather unfortunate reason. I'm very disappointed with the availability of Terraclips in Canada. Namely I've been unable to find sets here. I'm in a fairly bad place when it comes to game stores in this area that I'd want to patronize. In fact, of the few we have here I'll only ever give my money to one, and they didn't have the slightest clue what I was asking about when I called them about Terraclips. So I'm stuck with online ordering exclusively. This brings up a huge problem though, and guarantees I won't be purchasing any more sets. The price of shipping is astronomical when its shipped from the U.S. to anywhere in Canada. I don't mean small change, we're talking between $28 to a whopping $60 on shipping _alone_. The first set I picked up was from a U.K. online store (Maelstrom Games) that charged a flat rate to ship, without massive markups, priority mail gouging (I'd like the choice NOT to have things sent priority) and excessive duty taxes (Though that's a different story). The price was surprisingly low as well. However the second run hasn't been picked up by them for one reason or another, and I'm left with U.S. stores. The lowest price I could find from Wyrd games was a whopping $80 for just one set. The shipping alone was nearly $30, which I don't blame U.S. stores for since there are excessive duty charges slapped onto everything sent cross border to discourage people from shopping south of the border. So I have to ask.. Are there any alternatives for Canadian customers? Anyone know a good Canadian online store that actually has any stock of these. I can't even find mention of Terraclips in Canada outside of Meeplemart, and they don't have any stock. I'm disappointed, I was hoping to nab a couple extra sets since I purchased only one last time, but I just don't have an extra hundred dollars after conversion and odd charges to have these things sent to me. It is right on the cusp of distribution iirc, so make sure and drop the word to your local shop soon. |
