When I put together a new gaming group, I decided that I was going to use Terraclips as the center piece to all of my settings. And making these settings was ridiculously easy. Between Streets and Buildings I can do just about anything I want. The problem is that the clips get in the way of easy movement. They ended up frustrating my players. So I found myself using as few clips as possible, but this robs the settings of stability. Now the boxes have been sitting on my shelf unused for months and I feel like I wasted over $100. Are there any suggestions or alternatives for assembly that will help with this? \ Thanks! |

It is hard for me to imagine players complaining about the clips. They seem to be such a small inconvenience to me when placed there with the looks and 3D awesomeness. Seems your players are more the set around the living room with their clipboards and pencils, no terrain. |

I don't understand the movement problem. How do the clips affect the movement of figures? Do your players slide their figures along the tiles? |

The clips themselves are engineered with a very minimal footprint so that figures can stand directly on them, half on, or straddle them without issue. I suppose it depends on how you're accustomed to playing but this is the first time I've heard this sort of complaint. |

For building interiors, I sometimes place a floor tile (or a printout of the room floor) over the clips - as I did for this odd-shaped room where the clips were definitely in the way: |

I haven't played without some kind of terrain on the table since my 2e day nearly 20 years ago. And even then we typically had a non grid representation of the area. Most of the pieces are on 1x1" square bases. Because the bottoms of those bases are inset, sitting them on the clips usually ends up with the piece sliding to one side and sitting at an angle or falling over entirely. Other character pieces are on non standard bases and/or have arms/weapons stretching out over the edges of the base. They have more trouble on the clips than the 1x1" square bases. The result is that the players started moving around the clips, wasting movement etc. just to avoid the annoyance. The only pieces that do not have issues currently are D&D Minis as their base is relatively flat on the bottom. I'm going to give oldschooldm's suggestion a shot, see if the relative slickness of the clip is the problem and covering it with a piece of paper will provide a bit more traction. I'll let you know. |

All I can really say here is that I've used a number of figures, with and without giant weapons, big and small, and I never experienced a figure falling over or slipping from a clip location. Not saying its not possible but its gotta be a pretty rare event. That's just my experience though. |

There are minis, I own many, that have a small base, not flat, with a mold ridge, that might be the problem. To fix this, first thing I do when I begin to prep my minis is to file down that ridge. Basing minis is a must in my opinion. My preference is a penny, though some minis require a washer for more stability. This could be the problem and the solution. |

Nope. It's not from the molding or sprue. We only use a couple of pieces that are not on a base, and I filed those down before they got introduced to the party. It was a good thought though. Thanks. I'll set up another campaign that uses the terraclips and get video so you guys can see the issues we're having and maybe you'll see something we're doing wrong. |

Have to agree with the people here on their WWG forum, which they provide for our benefit as well as their own. Why should they have to pay to support their competition? |
