Hi guys, long time, but I've been lurking throughout.

I've been looking all over for some pictures of combined Terraclips/Dwarven Forge layouts, or simply reports of attempting such layouts, and can't find anything. Does the 1" grid line up fine or does the extra space created by the clips mess everything up? Or is the DF definition of 1" sufficiently different that squares simply don't line up?

If it works spatially, does it look good?

I love combining different types of terrains, but have seen that some things are just very hard to match. (1.5" Heroscape hexes to TerrainLinx was especially... Impractical)

I have no direct experience with Dwarven Forge products. The price point always scared me away. It is actually what caused me to look into alternatives many years ago and ended up finding WWG because of said search.

That being said, I have not seen any images depicting what you mention.

The only thing I can recall seeing is dwarves forge props together with Terraclips.
But I don't think that is what you are asking.

I'll have to look and see if I see the two terrains mixed in one layout.

I was just looking at the new terrain offered through the Dwarven Forge kickstarter, and wondering if I could mix it with Terraclips. Dwarven Forge for single-story passageways and rooms, Terraclips for rooms with multiple stories or with 3D elements (balconies, pillars, stairs, etc). If anyone gets a chance to try it out, let us know how it looks!

Just to keep you guys posted, I got a bunch of it off the ks (delivery upcoming) and just unboxed the three Dungeon Rise packs, meaning I have everything TC but the sewers.

I'll be sure to drop some feedback here on how well they combine, but I already pretty much know having Vaults of Ruin remains relevant - if a monster is tall enough that going up multiple stories to get a better shot at its head, DF isn't going to come anywhere close in setting up an appropriate battlefield (although it might turn out prettier if you manage)

Dwarven Forge Game Tiles received. I did some very minimal testing and combination isn't out of the question.

It seems the definition of an inch varies a bit between the two standards: short bits seem fine, and hopefully clips can be adjusted to make long stretches line up.

Of note, TC walls are quite a bit higher than DF walls, but the difference is almost exactly equal to the difference in floor thickness: using TC walls on DF tiles is wonky, but connecting completed corridors to each other looks promising.

DF doesn't seem to handle multiple levels well at all on its own. Early attempts hint that DF basements for TC buildings could work.

I'll need some real tests (and pictures) before I can make recommendations, but if anyone has specific things they would like to see tested, feel free to ask. DF I have the base set and stretch goals, as well as stairs and furniture packs. TC I have everything but sewers.

DF Mini-review: awesome. heavy. seem less versatile than TC.

From the top down, everything looks great. Perfect fit, and unlike where the walls meet the floors in BOTH products, there is no loss of square size at edges of the floor. I like that better than clips (TCP), and better than the wall eating up 1/2 the outer square (GT.)

Here's the two rubs:
1) The doors are low/small, and would be a pain to remove if the build had GT on both sides....

2) A constant challenge for TCP: the 3"/6" standard. It doesn't fit well with D&D tiles (2" base), nor does it play well with GT (2") base. TCP really needs some other tile/wall sizes if it's going to fit in with other products (which would INCREASE SALES of TCP.) I mod my set TCP (scan texture, resize, glut to mountboard, and cut) to get compatible sizes all the time - I'd pay money for officially textured 1",2", and 5" pieces....

Please post an solutions you find/good mashups... Like I said, I spent only about 30 min on this (including pix processing and posting...)

The combination of TC walls around DF tiles looks really good. I imagine that with TC walls, it would be relatively easy to build multiple levels and extensions using TC. Without doing any modding, I can see using the combination of DF & TC for a big, important chamber, with side passages & multiple levels being handled with TC. I'll never be able to afford enough DF tiles for more than one room, anyway.
