Can I build modular buildings to throw on other terrain? I find the crafting of Thoumont's pieces to be pretty boring and every time I need a new truss I want to cry... lol. If I can get easily constructible buildings I can just throw out on to a TLX build or even a poster map I'm in.

You absolutely can and I hope that many people do just that! The buildings can be plopped down onto just about any terrain.

Wyrd sent me an e-mail link to an official unboxing video that thoroughly whetted my appetite. What are the chances of y'all putting together a 5 minute "first build" video with the contents of a single box? I would love to see what can be done with 5 minutes of prep work, and I suspect that there are a great many people out there thinking along the same lines.

Also, it's good to be back on the forums after my lengthy absence.

EDIT: BAH! Just looked at the actual forum listing and you've got this up. Then again, that video seems to be a lengthy rundown of the how, what, and why. What would be really nice is to see a speed build, like what you might do during a game night. I want to see just how quickly you can put everything together once You've got the planning out of the way.

I'll see if I can insert a box shot at the end of part 2 so that you can see what's actually remaining after I'm done.

My main concern isn't one of value - WWG has ALWAYS delivered on this front. I'm trying to make it an easy sell for the guys I play with. They're not sure how long it would take to set up a quick street or indoor scene and that's something of a sticking point. Right now we're using Ye Olde Square Grid Mat with dry erase markers, which is fast but visually unattractive. We've sometimes used the first-party tile products from a notable RPG publisher but those tend to slide around.
I know that these won't have the sliding issue (as long as we're connecting several together), but I want to show them that it's really not necessarily a lengthy setup, either. The big "hero class" builds shown in the promo materials are obviously very nice but they require considerable prep time.

How big is this build anyway?
I'm not interested in specific dimensions, but in roughly how much table space it covers up.

Looks like it's about 6 tiles x 6 tiles, which would make it 3'x3'.

Thats what I make it too, with about 8 vertical layers to the top of the roofs

I'm wondering if the Terraclips tiles would benefit from some edging.

How does everything sit on the clips that connect the floors? Is the whole base sturdy or does it rock because of the clips?

*We all know TerraClips rock, but you know what I mean.*

From the pics they look: a) might fine already; and b) like a bit of judicious edging might make them even better.

The TerraClips Video: Buildings Construction Part 1 video covers 2/3 of your question somewhat (see 11:30-12:30). As for stability of a 'floor' that sitting on a table, the build Denny makes in the video looks marvelously stable.

I've never pre-ordered anything, but I couldn't wait for this to be on my table. I ordered 2 Buildings, 1 Streets, and 3 Boxes of clips. I'm so frakking excited. Great Job WWG!

It's funny about people's mention of TLX cheaper cost, as when I built my table (http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9202) it did cost me about £100 of initial materials. Of course I had a lot of left over which would have allowed me to build a second table (if buying more paper and ink), BUT it did take me 2 months to build.
I'm for Terraclips all the way, as Denny says, it's ma kind of product (ie instant satisfaction).
Can't wait for the castle and who knows what other awesomeness...

But how many boxes of clips were used here?
There's 5 sets (or parts thereof), so going by the "1set, 1 box of clips" guide line, there should be the better part of 5 boxes of clips in there, right?

So, on clip usage; take a quick look at the below video for an idea of how a typical build will flow for you because that has a direct relationship to the amount of clips you will use. For the big table I created I used roughly 1 box of clips per product. So with my Buildings, Streets, Sewers layout, I used about 1 & 1/2 boxes of terrain for each product and roughly 5 boxes of clips, with a lot of clips left over from variants I didn't make use of. Your clip mileage will fluctuate wildly depending on what it is you are building and whether or not you are "short-clipping" to get certain functionality and looks.

Game tables want to be filled with terrain!!

TerraClips really shines when you throw all the sets together. The minute I started adding buildings to streets a big smile cracked on my face

Oh c'mon. That big smile probably started way back when you got those shiny new packages back from the latest production run, didn't it?

Ok, ok, the smile cracked when I cracked the first box open. It grew slightly larger when I exhaled a breath that had been sitting in my lungs for a year while we waited for the factory to resolve lingering improvements. A breath so full of relief that I was finally able to look upon the product with the same fun spirit I had when this project first began.

I've been eagerly anticipating the release of Terraclips for some time now, and with it's immenint release looming on the horizon i decided to become a member of this site.
The reason i wanted to become a member is to tell you directly that your decision to sell your clips seperately has caused me to lose intrest in your product. The product is called TerraCLIPS and includes no clips. Your sets are beautiful and look very promising but I will not be picking any of the kits up, and I will not recomend that my FLGS order any either.

I wish you success in your endevours, but please consider packaging the items together, even if shrink wrapping the two boxes together.

It bums me out that the "clip issue" is turning some people off what I believe is a top of the line product.

Just a thought, how about GIVING a box of clips for every 2-3 sets purchased? Find a price point level that covers the give away, this way they CAN be FREE for those who insist on the inclusion of "free clips" and still be available for purchase/profit as the customer's needs/wants grow.

Reward the customer for taking the leap, and still make the rent as their addiction grows. And in my opinion, customer growth is almost certain. Maybe part of a promotion? Whatever it takes to get off on the right foot.

I want nothing more than to see you guys succeed, I stop by these forums everyday just to see what's new (lurker?) just because (as all regulars know) its a friendly, fun, inclusive, kick-ass place to be. WITH THE BEST/COOLEST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET.

It seems yesterday that you post that your son was born ! times fly (mine will be ten in september)...

I've seen them in pre-order in ludikbazar.com -expenseive than other so I will keep in Maelstrom- (last time they even didn't know that this was about to go out) and is clearly saying that you need the clips... So it seems that the message is getting clear...

I belive that the clip/no-clip in the box is what it's...a decision made, and now it will be hard to change... but I don't care (knowing it) to buy them appart...because even if I'll bought the 3 sets I don't belive I will buy 3 packs of clips...as I'm not quite sure I'll mount all 3 together so for me 3 packs would be a waste of money if they came in the box...

Yeah, you pretty much have to preorder kids if you want them still in the shrinkwrap. If you're ok with someone else having opened the box, you can preview them, but there are a lot more regulatory hoops to jump through.

It is possible to kitbash some, but it takes a long time and works out far more expensive than you think. Even adding the clips, Terraclips are much much cheaper.

I really can't believe the mountain that has been made out of the molehill of this clips issue. I could understand someone being mildly annoyed, but I do not get the outrage. Try some perspective, people.

I for one will be picking some of these up. I've been wanting to use WWG terrain in my games for a long time, but I just never have time to make it. So now I'll be able to whip up some cool layouts and impress my players. If I have to buy the clips separately, well that's a small price to pay.
