It was just a 2-player game, but me and my buddy enjoyed it a lot.
I controlled the Union, comprised of every official character released so far (John MacNeal, Barry Daniel Brown, Tala Aponi, Sergio Ramirez and Hound DOG, "Hoax" Lamsbury, 2x Commando Alpha and 2x Commando Delta) plus a few supporting characters that my buddy and I made rules for ourselves (the characters being Hellboy, Abe Sapien, Jennifer Murphy [a battlesuit operator, using an AT-43 U.N.A. model], two different kinds of BPRD field agents [HeroClix minis] and a Combat Engineer [Star Wars mini]).
My buddy had the Reich, with the whole arsenal of official characters (Hermann von Heizinger, Karl Zermann, Eva Krämer, Yula Körlitz, Hoss Harbinger, 2x Stoßtruppen and 2x Schocktruppen) and several homebrew characters, them being: Mantor (an Übermensch officer, using a Major Maxim HeroClix mini), Dr. Volkov (a mad scientist, using a HorrorClix min) and two each of regular and radioactive zombie troopers (using HorrorClix minis).
There also was Rittmeister Erwin Hochschild (using a Per Degaton HeroClix mini), but he was a prisoner of the Union.
The scenario we played was fairly straightforward. The Reich was on a serch and rescue mission to free the Rittmeister. Their objectives (for 1 Victory Point each) were:
1. Find the prisoner.
2. Get the prisoner of the "map".
3. Find the Union HQ map room.
4. Grab vital intelligence and get it off the "map".
5. Find and destroy the enemy radio room.
The Union's goals were:
1. Break the prisoner's mental defenses (2 VP)
2. Interrogate the prisoner (2 VP)
3. Get the gathered intelligence to the radio room and transmit it to Union HQ (1 VP)
I chose the cellar of the off-center house as the map room, the bedroom in the big house to be the interrogation room and the small room on the ground floor of the small house to be the radio room.
My buddy had no idea what was where and didn't know anything about the setup of the build besides what you see in the 3rd pic.
The Reich started their rescue in the middle of the night (reduced visibility) and entered on the edge with the street ramp.
Soon they were spotted by a patrolling Commando and all Hell broke loose, with the plaza at the ramp turning into a veritable killing field.
Bullets and stranger projectiles peppered the ground and walls everywhere and the Reich had a hard time advancing under the steadily increasing stream of fire that the Union was throwing against them.
Through some well-played special actions my buddy managed to get one character each into the big house and the small house, finding the prisoner and destroying the radio room. He also pressed hard into the off-center house and found the map room, where he managed to grab the plans and escape with that character. He couldn't free the prisoner though and everyone (and everything!) that tried crossing the plaza died at the hands of devastatingly accurate Union fire support.
But still the game ended with a 4 - 0 win for the Reich since I just couldn't get around to breaking the prisoner. Whereas I rolled gloriously in combat, I failed miserably in interrogation.
Still I count this as a moral victory at least since I only lost 3 troopers and 2 hero characters compared to 5 troopers and 5 hero characters on my buddy's end.
We really had a great time with this and scattering props around the built really helped with the game. I would've liked to place even more props, but this was all I could build in time for the game (and I didn't have access to my other load of props I did for my Maiden since my fully-propped Maiden stands on display at my FLGS!).
If you've ever played the Tannhäuser board game and liked it, you'll love it when you'll transition it into a tabletop game and use TerraClips for terrain. It's like it was meant to be played that way (with a few minor tweaks, but still...).
