(Cross posted at Wyrd) One of the concerns about Terraclips my mates have is how long it takes to build a playable set. With just one build under my belt, and therefore still a Terraclips noob, I decided to find out. I picked this fantastic build (viewtopic.php?f=68&t=10328) as my template. Turns out that having a design to work to really speeds things up. It took me 25 mins to make the first 2'x2' section (my son turned up to help) and about 35 mins to make the second storey. Having made it once now, I think I could build the whole thing again in under 45 mins. GREAT video! Thanks so much for sharing that Sholto! My son is getting close to that age as well, where he can help Dad with his TerraClips builds...lol. Not always the best thing when he finds my prototype components and thinks he can add them to his collection Oh speaking of layouts, I've uploaded a convention primer we used to plan out and construct various builds at the last couple CON's. Its essentially a version of the main promo images where sewers, streets & buildings interact. There's some great little tips in there as well. Very useful primer, Denny - thanks. Working from a plan (or a photo as I did) was an interesting experience, compared to simply sitting down and seeing what I could make. It is an experience I think more Terraclips noobs like me could enjoy - with a little help from you guys. I would love to see PDFs like the primer showing example 1- and 2-box builds for all three core sets, particularly the plan showing where to use I-, L- and T-clips on the ground floor. One of the issues with Terraclips is that its sheer versatility, which is what makes hobby types like us love it, means that more casual gamers might be constrained because they do not know what they can achieve with it, and in frustration never learn. Even if they know that a set can do something, they might not know how. Simple sample builds, scaling in complexity, might be just the thing. |
