Heres some pics of my first build using some of the new sets. I used 2 sets each of Essentials and Ruins for the build. Heres a link and some pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/26092298@N ... 515987892/ by , on Flickr by , on Flickr by , on Flickr This was a really quick build, so I didn't use a lot of the new pieces, but I really liked some of the innovations with the new set. I really liked the slots on top and bottom of the large pieces, but wished they were on the bottoms of the short walls too. During the build I found my self constantly wishing they had put slots on the bottoms of all the walls, and made them more uniform between the 3 inch and 6 inch walls, ie 4 slots on the 6 inch walls that match up with the three inch walls but will still line up with the slots of two adjacent walls, like one large topper will slot up to connect two adjacent walls. May for the next set they can even add slots on floor pieces so that the toppers can slot through them too, or toppers that are flat on top, either would have worked great for the small ruins corner pieces. I found that when I used L clips they would fall, even the bigger ones. T clips were way more stable. by , on Flickr Stable enough to hold an Ogre. When I used L clips they just fell down. I also found my self wanting some non corner ruined floors pieces. I also would have like a more unified approach to the color scheme and style used. It almost felt like you got pieces for two different sets, not sure if this is a hold over from working on PDF sets were you can just print out what you want, but I personally would have preferred one unified style with plain floor tiles on one side, and then a side in the same style with the odd bits, Ie coins, fiery magical floors, glowing grated floors. The wall stairs were great, just wished the broken stairs and normal stairs were two separate sets you could slot in instead of extending so far out on the backside, oh and maybe some single story wall stairs for a future set. Finally my biggest complaint with this set is that the tiles were really warped, and I haven't been able to get them to stay flat. But oddly they don't seem to bow at the clips like the previous set. by , on Flickr Hopefully the cards will flatten more over time. Great set though, overall an improvement on the last set. The Pillars and little rubble piles are great. And although I haven't put any of the other props together yet they look neat. I will probably wind up getting two more copies of both ruins and essentials, I ran out of standard floor and wall pieces pretty quickly and had to switch to ruined and double height walls. I was completely out of non angled floor pieces and almost all my walls except the double height non ruined walls. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next. |

Two of every set except buildings which I have 4 of. The build was a 3x3 using two boxes of essentials and ruins. So four sets were used there were leftovers though. If you use the link I also have pic of my last build a 3x3 with most of the other sets with a large inn as the center piece. |
