check it out! I got 3 sets (Vaults, Essentials, and Buildings) for Christmas, with 3 boxes of clips. as you can see from the pics, I built my underground lair while my son put together his new Lego sets ![]() |

yeah I enjoy just starting with a blank slate and then just building. this is going to be an extension of an old mine, that ends in this lair. the lair is the home of a crime lord (beholder) who is basically surrounded by kobolds. so the lair is riddled with traps...where kobold minions will lure the players in to basically just walk over the traps. eventually they will meet the beholder who is going try to get the players to join his crime syndicate in hopes of overthrowing the main villain in the campaign. the cool thing is that this crime lord has been slowly building up a good force underneath the city that the main villain has overtaken. there is a secret passage into the dungeon of the city...so the campaign should move on from there! |

I'm trying to plan some wonderfully devious traps for the players as they enter the lair of the beholder crime lord. my hope is that they will be in such awe of the amazeballs terrain, that they won't be checking for traps as often ![]() the steps lead up to the second level, but i planned on having a spring-tile trap on the first or second step that will send them either into the ceiling or maybe into some spikes on the wall or something. the spiders are more for my visual, but they will be crawling around on the ceiling and then drop down on the players at some point. i think i'll also have a tile trap that juts out from the wall (think big pillar of stone that pushes you away) and pushes the players into the secondary room (bottom of the picture with the treasure chest) into the waiting jaws of of the "scythejaw" monster trap thingy. the little mini's that you can't really see are kobolds and they are serving as more of a distraction to the real danger of the lair in it's deadly traps. i'm probably going to make the kobolds minions (d&d 4e) and just make them run around trying to lure the players into traps. any thoughts for cool traps using these concepts? |

A rather simple "trap" could be having the kobolds chase the party up the stairs. First one to the last stair breaks the stair and falls down, having to run through the kobolds at the bottom of the stairs, having to fight them again. Might even make the second one make an ability check or fall too. That way #one will have a bit of help getting through the ankle bitters at the bottom of the stairs. |

Using a two-levelled build, Ive found with a little creative 'clipping', you can use unfixed floor tiles as overlays to conceal hidden traps below the floor. Spaces for monsters, spikes and such. It is a real buzz actually, to have my players move forward only to say 'hold on a minute and grab your dice! The same can be said for book cases (yeah those things that DON'T stay together without glue), where you can put them agaist a wall but have a small room annex handy to lay down and either suspend those wing blades from, or have a monster waiting. Nice touches. |
