Have you ever checked out the old interworks sets? (castles & keeps, pubs & inns, gothic realms) They were designed to work like that. You print out a bunch of floors that you glue straight down to sheets of foamcore as a big game board and then you place the free floating walls and props on it. Just like you have done here, only with the sets you have floor textures too. You can see some layouts I did with those sets here: http://wormholegamer.com/photos/thumbna ... ?album=107 Also when having floating walls like that one thing I found that was helpful was attaching the walls to the floors using poster tack. Holds them in place but still completely removable. No more having things slide around when someone bumps the table. |

I'll try poster tack - thus far I have been using pins (to connect walls) and tape, works OK but a bit messy/tedious. I use a lot of interworks type stuff, but when I am doing a preprinted module like Steading of the Hill Giants, its just much easier to copy the map from online, blow it up in Excel, print out the exact layout, and cut and tape. Takes 20 mins and I have the exact layout the module designer intended. When doing my own adventure designs, I use Interworks stuff, but I never glue it down, I just print and tape - I don't like to reuse stuff. |

I learned a trick from Discoking - get a bottle of Hob-e-tac. The stuff is used for the Hobby Scenics trees, it dries clear but remains tacky. You can use it on the bottoms of props and wall posts to stick it to the bases, and remove when you want to. It doesn't leave a residue. ~J Rzasa |
