As a newbie to Terraclips and being completely enamored by the new trilogy of Dungeon Rise Sets... I bought them all as a post Christmas gift to myself. I was a little taken aback at there being even the simplest of assembly guides or basic layout samples provided in the box. But I punched everything out and itemized the parts and assembled and glued the chairs and bookcases. And then carefully looking over the Advert layout image on the box was able to recreate it, with minor differences. And having read over the forums on the lamentations of "never enough clips" ... I was very frugal with a single set of clips and am happy to report having 1/3rd a set left over. I believe 1 set of clips is enough for an entire set of terrain.



Here's what was left from the set... Note same pieces are stacked, so there are more than appears at first glance. Also additional columns were used for 2nd story support which could be removed.

Anyway, I am enjoying these sets immensely. I will be starting on the Prison Set build tonight. I'll post some pictures.

Punched and built he Prison of Forsaken last night. Boy does this set have a lot of little bits with pointy edges to punch out. Be careful and take your time. I had a few instances where the top layer peeled back on removal from the frames. (easy fix with some glue). This is a set that I would recommend you use some PVA or super glue and seal the edges of the Iron fencing tops to make them rigid and longer lasting.

I did not have a chance to glue the bed/torture racks together so they appear wobbly in my photos.

Again I used the Advert Photo as design practice and to see the application of some of the various bits. You need to look closely at the front photo on the box if you were not sure how to assemble the Pendulum Blades. But otherwise, most of this set assembles like the previous one.

The texture work is fantastic on this set. And could easily cross genres (and not be exclusive to the Fantasy realm). It reminds me a bit of the Hellworks sets. And there are enough bits and pieces here to create an infernal Cathedral like structure with some nasty wrought iron gates keeping the souls (in?). Some of these pieces could be mixed in with Malifaux Buildings to create a Gothic-esque Mansion.

Anyway, here's my first attempt:



WWG's sample layout uses all but one of the large Floor tiles. Even with 3 ties to the build there were still many elements left to make even this sample layout larger.

Here is what you get in the set (all punched out). Note some things were built the rest are in piles(lots of chairs, and more torture rack/beads to build. All the stairways and open flooring could make for some great vertical action gaming. (I am thinking Quake/Necromunda/Mordheim gaming).

I cannot wait to build the 3rd set in the series... and then start mixing elements together.

I've built the 3rd and final set of the Terraclips Dungeon Rise series! And I am really impressed with this set., both stand alone, but as an addition to the Dungeon Rise:Essentials in particular. You can really make some impressive dungeon settings with these 2 sets. (I recommend a second copy of Essentials for more variety).

I did have one issue with this set... The Spiral Staircase... I just could not get it exactly right going off the instructions printed on the Frame. I had to see a visual of it from here and fiddle around with it. This piece is a particularly unique set of engineering... I really like it...after it was GLUED!

Now off to Malufaux Streets and Sewers.

I had built the Streets of MAlifaux first. But had to tear it down before I took some photos. But today I did a Sewers build. This time its simply a create on the fly. This took about 2 hours as I was familiarizing myself with the bits from this set.

This, like Streets is pretty Bare Bones, but very nice for laying the foundation for buildings and other props you might have to flesh out the table for gaming. And like the Streets set I would recommend a minimum of 2 sets for a variety of setting & levels of play. Unless you are mixing the Sewers, Streets and _________. In which case, it's probably enough for a 3x3 or if you are creative a 4x4 table.

Love the texture work on this set and the addition of gantry/walkways and side rails. You can really get some interesting multi-level set ups here. (A game of Necromunda anyone?)
