While I realize a lot of thought went into the choosing of the translucent gray clips, I have to say that I have yet to purchase any T-clip sets based purely on the fact that I really don't like the look of the gray clips. I would think it would be very simple to offer the clips in a "clear" option, or maybe a light tan since that seems to be the general color of the sets. At any rate, that's my suggestion. First off, welcome to the boards!

While it seems like clear would be the best option, WWG has posted pictures in the past of that versus the current translucent gray. The clear glaringly stand out, while the gray is even less visible in person than on camera.

That being said, there have been a few people to try their hand at printing textures on label paper and they have enjoyed the results. I personally don't see the point as the clips are barely noticeable in a game environment, but to each their own.

The clips are also what prevents me from investing in TCP at this point. I have yet to see a single photo, with or without flash, where the builds don't look like Dalmation dogs. All I can see are dark gray clips everywhere.

I'm not sure there's much that Denny & Co can do at this point about that though; the dark gray clips were a huge improvement over the clear clips, and obviously for most people it's not an issue. Different strokes for different folks!

I've seen them in person and it still holds true for me. Also, I wasn't suggesting they change the clip color, I was suggesting they add another color or two as options. That way people have a choice.

As for printing and applying "stickers", well that kind of defeats the purpose buy-and-build terrain.

I disagree. For me, this technique (and examples of floor/wall sizes/shapes kitbashes) was the difference between being a TerraClips customer and only building playable terrain with competitors products [I do not like TLX's floor mounting system]. I find the thinness of TCP walls to be a big plus and the quick assembly great, but not great enough to constrain my spaces to the exact sizes/aesthetics out-of-the-box. Only having 3"/6" rectangular rooms, and lots of flat floor clips out-of-the-box was a deal breaker


Covering the clips is an aesthetic choice - a trade-off of labor for taste. I don't cover them all, but, when I do, I use two different techniques:

I cover floor-clips in room interiors by using (or printing) a floor tile the exact size/shape of the room. I don't bother covering the interior wall side of the clip. This helps with aesthetics as well as mini placement where the clips join the floor.

I also cover roof joining clips with stickers matching the texture - the same with flat clips on road surfaces.

Honestly, I wish people wouldn't say "your players won't even notice the clips" - it is presumptuous. Some folks care, others don't. It is a matter of taste. "My players did't notice" would be better.

But, in the end, we're the builders - it is our vision that we're constructing in imagination, paper, and plastic. We build our dreams and we decide how long to spend on our vision.

Good point. I guess I didn't consider the fact that it didn't have to be all or nothing. I was imagining sitting down with 2 boxes of clips, a hobby knife, 15 sheets of printed label paper and a look on my face that said "will I ever finish?".

At any rate, I'd love to see some of your layouts to see how well the clips look when covered.

Those covers look better than the plain clips to me (could just be my taste - but then isn't that what this is all about?)
Do I detect photopaper used for the street tiles? (based on percieved glossyness)

Perhaps interlocking floor tiles might be a step away from clips?
