Was there supposed to be a human-sized figure with one of the dragons? I didn't get one, and wouldn't have noticed, but since I'm putting in for my other misses, I may as well mention this.

Neither Nethermaul nor Kaladrax show it on the box. Does anyone know?

Thanks all -- I definitely didn't get her. To take inventory, I was using a combination of the Add-on picture & the spreadsheet with the bag #s and pictures.

Finished the last of the dragon commissions yesterday - took today as a break from minis.

Tomorrow...?

Leaning towards pirates, some (metal) kelpies, and some other aquatic critters.

For no real reason, other than 'not dragons'.

On the plus side - I liked the paint job that I used on Nethyrmaul enough that I will use it for my own as well.

The Auld Grump

I will just go on record and say that, as well as being a beast of a miniature, Kaladrax is a beast to paint. Six hours in at this point, and I'm only about a quarter of the way finished with one wing - looks awesome, but man, is this thing going to take a while to paint...

I can snap some WIP pics of how my Kaladrax is progressing (hopefully, I'll have the back of one wing done before the night is done), but it'll be a long while before I have the whole of the beast completed - I'm taking my time on it (primer, brush on primer, base coat, wash, highlight, highlight, highlight - post assembly, so moving the thing around is a pain and a half), but the section of the wing I've finished definitely looks rather incredible!

i haven't tried to assemble all the multy parts minis... maybe i should do it once just to check the parts

Definitely do a dry fitting to make sure you have all the proper bits and bobbins for everything. If you prefer to assemble before you paint, there are a couple that you'll want to paint and then assemble. Wyrmgear, you can paint after assembling and only have a few problem spots - but don't glue in the wings before painting. They're rigid and there's barely enough room to get your hand in on the upper parts, and it makes getting paint on the smoke stacks and upper engine casing a real pain. Kaladrax, the other one that I couldn't wait to assemble before painting, is simply too massive to paint effectively after assembling, and even with how large it is, there are several places where you simply cannot reach with a brush easily without bumping into something else if you assemble first.
I haven't painted up any of the others yet, but from my initial tests, there doesn't appear to be anything where assembling first will be a major hindrance, but those two are definitely paint then finish assembling.

can you expand the CA glue acronym?^^

since i'm wondering how effectively glue together some of the pieces after painting them especially if they need some green stuff love....

i was thinking.... maybe some cyanoacrylic to fix them and then Vynilic glue to fill the gaps ?

The Beholder/Eye Beast definitely needs filler across the top of his head, big gap up there. I finished my Earth Elemental;


I didn't even notice the petrified skeleton on his left shoulder until I was dry-brushing. Fun model to paint.
