I guess now that they are done shipping to general customers, I should be getting excited for my preorders of Nethy and Kaly! I preordered them from Miniature Giant and haven't heard about when to expect them (last date they gave was est 8/19).

Look who joined my collection this week. I preordered these two. I didn't end up getting them for the insane deal that the KS offered them at of $35, but did get them for about double that, which was about the cost they are now charging for just Kaly.

Nice build - have to get around to cutting and gluing mine to go with my Dropship.. then get my Bones painted as well.

I can't help mixed emotions looking forward to the next bones kickstarter.

It will be great to get more bones into production. I really like them. But there are a lot of reasons I think the next one will be a disappointment:
* It's a sequel.
* They'll be a lot smarter -- which probably means that we'll get fewer awesome mistakes (e.g. dragons that are way bigger than they should be)
* We were collectively getting burned out at the end of the last project. I'm not sure anyone will rise to the same fever pitch.

But maybe I'm selling their creativity short. Maybe they are going to bundle as much awesomeness into the next one as the first. I hope so!

I'm still waiting on them to finish this one, they still owe me 56 figures, they missed a whole bag from the vampire on my order....

I found a post on Dakka Dakka - Reaper let him know when his replacement was on the way a few days ago, so they have started sending the replacement packages.

I, also, have received message that replacements for my missing/damaged pieces have been shipped.

I got an email last night: two parts and one figure. THe parts were replacements -- I'd gotten two of one wing for a griffon and two of one of the legs for the clockword dragon.

So, they are starting. Maybe they are going from small to large?

Just got my notice. They are sending me an entire Vampire box!

I... really cannot complain.

I got store credit for double the cost of the messed up or missing minis ($37.50 for me).

Maybe the figure vs store credit comes down to whether they have the figures in stock?

It might also be a value thing. My order would not qualify for free shipping if it were placed as needed. Maybe it just isn't worth the postage.

Got my Bones replacements in the mail today - only what I actually needed. Now the mighty Cthulhu as a head!

Painted the translucent green undead for a commission today - used a new method that came out... different.

I used the same technique on all of them - aside from drying time it took less than an hour per miniature. (But there was lots of drying time!)

Step 1. Clean the model as usual - removing mold lines, and scrubbing with soap and water.
Step 2. Matte coat - so that Step 6. will stick.
Step 3. Let dry for three days (probably could have been less, but I was busy).
Step 4. Wash gently with soap and water.
Step 5. Let dry. (Duh!)
Step 6. Green Ink over the entire model, with a little bit of soap added to break up surface tension.
Step 7. Let dry. (Again!)
Step 8. Drybrush with Glow In The Dark Paint - fairly heavy.
Step 9. Brown ink in eye sockets, where appropriate.
Step 10. Let dry (we're doing that a lot, aren't we?)
Step 11. Spray with matte coat.
Step 12. Let dry (now we are just being silly....)

Weird as it may sound... the figures look better in the dark. They don't look bad in the light - the GITD paint is also translucent, but is a paler, more yellow, green - and adds a bit of texture.

In the dark all that you get are the highlights....

I.. am very bad about taking photos - I gave my camera to my girlfriend because I never use it. (I bought it for GenCon... then took something like three pictures.)

No excuse for it, really - I am a decent photographer. I used to be the person that used the photo edit software at the non profit that I used to work for. But take pictures for myself? Noooo!

The models are now sitting in a post box, waiting for a 9 AM pickup.

Army Painter Matte coat, Higgins' Waterproof inks, Craft Smart Glow in the Dark paint form Michael's. Textured resin bases from I don't remember where, with Highland Tufts from The Army Painter.

Which reminds me - I need to get to The Artist & Craftsman supply to get more Higgins' inks....
