I have a few alts, highest a 15 warrior but I worked my Thief up to 31. I liked the little bit of Guardian I had played, just couldn't dig the human for some reason so I deleted him and made a Norn Guardian. I don't have much time to play (hence my highest is 31) but in just a few days of limited play I managed to get him to 13 this morning (who needs sleep when you're working nights?). I am loving the Guardian. I'm yet to find one of their weapons that I don't like, just found the last useable weapon when I logged. |

Guardian or Elementalist is my choice for my next character. I don't know when I will make them though. I am enjoying my Ranger. As for leveling, focus on the heart quests and event chains. Try to stay in areas where bad guys are just above you in level (1 or 2 levels ahead). There are other tricks (like WvW at the right times, crafting can be good, etc.), but those can be more difficult to get right. |

I love the Elementalist, but I'm waiting till I can buy a MMO mouse so I can play the attunement shuffle. It's bad enough trying to get up to F1-F4 at the best of times, and I play on a laptop so I have trouble getting any of the skills activated from the keyboard. I tried a human ranger briefly and liked it, but was just trying different stuff at the time. I still plan to give it another go, need to buy another character slot. Currently running: Sylvari Thief-31 Norn Warrior-15 Norn Guardian-13 Asuar Elementalist-11 Charr Engineer-10 Hearts and jumping into Dynamic Event chains are definitely key to leveling, grabbing every crafting material node helps too. Crafting itself can be a great source of XP. For the most part though I've found it to use up the materials of all my alts and rarely can make anything I can use. I'm having luck with Jeweler on my guardian so far, and will probably drop Leatherworker once I make a couple of invisible bags. Artificer will let me make Staffs and Scepters and shouldn't overlap on the materials I use for Jeweler. |

I hit 73...I really should have gone to bed. Oh well, too late now. I just have the one character and am now sitting at like level 180 in huntsman. I am still like 60 or so in leatherworker and will have to wait until I have some more funds before hitting the crafting again. |

I hit 80 a couple of few days ago by doing a couple of extra late nighters. The result: powerful character, tired player = not so good for survival. Definitely time to catch up on sleep. Now I'm 80 the objective has changed to getting better gear and exploring more of the map. I'm also trying out a guardian - It's only level 3 but I'm enjoying the way it hits hard right from the start compared with the my pistol totting engineer. Even though my eng has a decent dps, especially against multiple enemies, a lot of that comes from condition damage over time and damage cross multiple targets so it isn't always as obvious on a single enemy. Crafting is a good xp boost - I got at least three levels that way and I'm only about 200 in Huntsman and 120 in Leatherworker (the craftsman, not the other sort!). One lesson: don't pick two crafting skills that require the same materials for your main character - the result is never having enough of crucial materials to level both crafting skill (which is why Leatherworker has fallen well behind). Better to use jeweler or chef as the secondary skill as they use different materials. Chef has the benefits that it produces foods that increase xp rate while adventuring and you can use everything you produce. With the other crafting skills, each time I do a session to raise my crafting I end up with a bunch of items that end up being salvaged or sold for far less than the materials that went into them were worth. As well as doing heart quests and events, just simple exploring helps the xp progress too. There's a reward when you complete a zone, plus I've found a number of chests and rich gathering spots, not to mention some out of the way places that just look cool that I wouldn't have know about otherwise Finally, do some reading online about different builds (i.e. weapon/equipment/skill/trait combinations) for whatever class you're playing. I learnt heaps about my eng that way, and got a more powerful character that better suits my play style and is even more fun to play out of it. |

Hmm, may have to take up cooking. I hadn't thought of that. The other night when I finished playing it was right at the end of the jumping puzzle in the Norn starting zone. I literally made it to the last platform, killed the guards, grabbed the chest moved back to the platform and logged. When I logged back in a day and a half later the guards were back and the door was closed. Killed the guards, snagged the chest a second time. Worked out pretty well. |

I am tempted to switch to cooking to pair with huntsman based on what you said. It also seems useful for in-combat buffs. Hopefully I can get some game time in tonight. I am chomping at the bit to see him through level 80... |

Made my Invisible Bag last night so I can keep one of each weapon on me at all times. Switched to Artificer and leveled it up to around 40, already had a better staff than I could make but the scepter and focus went right into rotation. I should probably have made a trident too, but I can do that later. I then dropped Artificer for Cooking...and hit a wall. The format seems completely different from the other crafts I've tried. No long list of stock recipes, no basic component (Ignots/Planks/etc) to crank out then stockpile (unless it's Dough). I found a single discovery out of what I had that could be crafted at my level: some stew with Carrots, something that might have been Parsley, and Butter IIRC. That got me almost to Lvl 3 but I need to do some research before I try my hand at it more. Luckily I was kinda bored of the crafting menus by then so I ran off and went back to questing. |

Completed a dungeon and then followed up with attempting the spiral jump puzzle in the forest before bed. I have done it before, but was curious as to how my skills have improved...I didn't fall once and did the whole thing in a matter of minutes. |

I have found the same, I went back to try and do the second part of the one in the Sylvari zone, did the starting tree one shot without issue. Was working solo and pulled a bad agro so didn't even get the chance to try the second. For the Norn zone it's the Rookery or something, there are ravens on the path that have a knockdown effect that can send you off the platforms (luckily it's not too high and the enemies below are pretty much pushovers). This one gave me a TON of trouble the first time. Went through and one shotted it with my guardian without even breaking a sweat. |

I am now level 78.9 and wish I could keep my eyes open for the last little bit. Oh well, tomorrow night will have to be my ding to 80. Any tips and tricks for getting some cash together? |

One Hundred Percenting an area, particularly the later areas, will get you a decent chunk of money and some really nice gear. That said, the 75-80 and the level 80 areas are rather annoying trying to grab everything, as everything is either guarded by a Veteran mob, in the middle of an Event area, or at the end of a jumping puzzle. Along with the fact that everything's trying to kill you, it gets old fast. Outside of that... You can sell some of what you find on the Auction House, particularly Rare Mats (if you're not working on building up your crafting level), though gathering regular mats can make you a bit of coin as well (less per piece, but a lot more plentiful). Participating in events will also give you a pretty decent cash flow, especially the later areas. This will also build up your Karma Points, allowing you access (eventually) to the top-end Faction Armor and Weapons. Of course, those run for ~83k each, so you'll be at it for a while. Hm... That covers what I've found for making money in the game. |

At no surprise to me, I hit 80 tonight. I also got my Huntsman skill up to level 376. I ran out of money and will spend my time getting more money by completing my story line. |

Well, I hit 400 on huntsman today to go with my level 80. I am tempted to spend tons on crafting great weapons (already made a nice shortbow for myself). Now, to decide what other profession to increase once I get my weapons up to par... |

Saw a post on the GW2 forums that pointed out something that makes the Legendaries potentially worth it. With the introduction of the Ascended level of weapons (above exotic) Legendaries are being similarly bumped in power to match to stay at the top of the game as they're always supposed to be the best. So craft one now and it will get up-scaled to whatever else they introduce, in theory at least. |
