So I'm trying to de-clutter my digital life a bit and could use a spot of advice. Can anyone recommend a program for managing my photos? My father has a Mac and he showed me his iPhoto which seems to be something I'd want, but it isn't available on PC. The parts I liked on iPhoto that I liked were the facial recognition and the ability to detect duplicate photos. I have backups spread across multiple drives from multiple cameras/phones going back 10+ years to sort through so it's a daunting task to approach without a program. Thanks guys. |

I never got used to using it, but Picasa works on both mac and pc, and does the whole face recognition thing very well. I had my father try it out - he's scanned in thousands of family photos - and he's been happy with it, though his point of reference is shoeboxes with thousands of family photos in them. |

I just DLed Picasa after I posted this. My wife's sister passed so we need to try and get photos for the funeral which is what kickstarted this. But yeah, I'd say I have the digital equivalent of shoeboxes filled with thousands of photos (plus actual shoeboxes full of photos to scan). Thanks. And if anyone has a better solution or other opinions/experiences for the long run I'm happy to listen. |
