Hey folks,

I'm trying to make a desert map, and got the Streets of Blood set, which is great but is obviously the Sonoran desert... I got it instead of Pharaoh's Descent because the impression I got from the pics for PD is that all the tiles include ruins bases.

Does anyone know of a good set for middle-of-the-desert Sahara? If not I'll just stick with Sonoran.

Hi,
Pharaoh's Descent does have sand-only tiles (one" tile, one hall tile and one 3" tile to be precise)

Any chance any of the promo pics of the set show any of those tiles? If I'm buying the set for such a small amount of stuff I wanna make sure it's perfect.

Nope... I don't see any picture that shows the empty desert (we can see a grided version of it, though)

Pharoah's Descent has really nice sand tiles.
Check out the bottom part of this image:

The bottom left third shows the sand texture.

To the right of that (along the bottom edge) are ungridded sand tiles and at the extreme right an ungridded sand with statue ruin tile. (NB: the edges have merged in the image, obscuring the tile boundaries.)

Above the ungridded tiles are gridded 'mixed' tiles with anchors (gridded sand for the front 3" merging to stone floor for the back 3").

As Akmor said, the sand tiles are one each of 6x6", 6x3" and 3x3", plus one 6x6" tile with embedded statue ruin.

Mixed sand/stone floor tiles are one each of 6x3", 6x6" one corner sand, 6x6" one corner stone, and two variations of 6x6" 50/50 sand/stone.

The biggest limitation is that the tiles are all flat plain texture, so there won't be much variation if you're doing a large area. Other than that, they're a really nice sand texture.

Hm... Turns out the tiles aren't quite what I'm looking for. It's sandstone with piles of sand and what I want was straight-up powdery stretches of sand and nothing else. I'm thinking I'll use pictures of sand found online to make what I'm imagining...

Still though, not a problem that I got the Pharaoh set... I'm thinking I might use the pyramid or some of the ornamental stonework.
