A friend of mine just got the Leviathan Crusader that he ordered from a sale a month or so ago.... Damn... the thing is huge.... Damn... there are a lot of pieces. Damn... the thing is freakin' HUGE! And... damn, that makes me want to add Mecha to steampunk.... Maybe the 15mm version - a little less freakin 'huge! (Scarily enough... it could be a PC in Spycraft 2.0... there is an expansion for playing mecha....) And I hate Mecha.... The Auld Grump - I would have to do a war campaign, I think... which would mean needing to get four total.... (One ally (frenemy?), two enemies.) Edit - that would be two 15mm Crusaders and two 15mm Mortis. The scary thing, the Mortis.... Crusader - Mortis - SpyCraft Mecha - *EDIT 2* Or I could come up with ground combat rules for Airship Pirates.... |

How big are those? As in what size bases? |

The 25mm Crusader is about eight and a half inches tall. (!) I think that the base was about six inches wide, but I could be wrong. One thing worth mentioning - the thing is very posable, and one of the needed tools is a screwdriver (included in the kit). I think that the 15mm kit should be about five or six inches tall. The kit includes one hand with a sword and one Vulkan cannon. (The cannon is huge - a bit longer than the hull of a GW Rhino....) They sell add-ons for the model - and the weapons can be swapped out - so you could have a dual wielding mech, or one with two vulkans, or something else entirely. The box is pretty big - but there was not a lot of free space, the kit filled it pretty nicely. The Auld Grump |

It is also pretty hefty - it is not intended to be just a display model - they want you to play with it. If you are interested, keep your eye open for sales - Jon got it for 35% off at Wargames Factory. A downside... I really like the infantry and vehicles by Dream Forge - but, except for the Leviathans, they do not, in any way, fit a steampunk aesthetic. And I love the medic. He is not posing nobly while his battle brother dies, he is bolting across the field, along with his trusty robo-gurney. And their APC looks... suspiciously like a Hanomag, even though it has rear wheels instead of tracks. Wheels turn, doors and hatches open... and the seats have crash bars.... Nice..... The Auld Grump - I wish that I had joined the Kickstarter.... |

Love the APC, very nice. Agree it has more than a passing Hanomag resemblance. |
