Looks like Epson is bringing their OEM CIS line to the US. Pricy to purchase, but cheaper ink refills, plus it's an OEM CIS. I might be buying a new printer for Christmas. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/ ... ef=ecotank |

I am excited to see progress in this realm, as well! I will likely be waiting a bit, but am hopeful that my next printer purchase will be one of these, or something like it. |

Boy did I get annoyed at having to buy another set of OEM carts for my printer last night after seeing this announcement. |

My current printer is getting old and will need to be replaced sometime soon. Will someone please get one of the Epsons and tell us if it prints true? |

I´ve had one of this for a long time and I´ve never had any problems with it. It´s a great printer and system. |

That part where I said Epson was bringing it to the U.S.? It's because they've been selling CIS in overseas markets for a while. |

I´ve had it for almost two years already (yes, I´m from Perú and live there), and have had no problems with dimensions. I mostly print FDG papercraft and there has never been any kind of dimensions problem, it prints true. |

I was all excited to print out what will be my entry into the Cardboard Warriors Papercuts Award when the tube to my blue ink tank popped off. ![]() I'm trying to superglue it in place right now, but it's not holding well. I managed to get four tiles printed, but I would like a lot more than that to take some pictures! I will be looking into printer replacements pretty soon, I guess! |

I'm pretty sure I've got husband buy-in on this purchase; NPR did a story about it yesterday and he asked if I "needed" a new printer. ![]() |

Found some information about the ecotank printers on Consumer Reports. Expression ET-2500, $380. WorkForce ET-4550, $500. Using included ink bottles, the claimed print-out yield is 11,000 pages with black text or graphics and 8,500 color pages. All color inks are dye-based, except for black, which is pigment-based. Includes the ability to Fax and has a 2.2” LCD WorkForce Pro WF-R4640, $1200. Using included ink packs, the claimed print-out yield is 20,000 pages with black text or graphics and 20,000 color pages. All four inks are pigment-based, which Epson says will last longer than dye-based. Includes the ability to Fax and has a 4.3-inch color LCD. One of the selling features of some Epson printers is the DURABrite pigment based inks for all of the colors. I wonder why Epson decided to get away from that in the lower priced Eco Tank printers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yesssss, we wondersss. ![]() |
