A friend, and one time boss, of mine won a chance to interview Mr. Bowie... and found him to be a very nice person, helping make the interview go smoothly.

I did not know until recently that they had stayed in touch - mostly e-mailing each other about activism. (She was part of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance at the time.)

She turned down two invitations to parties while he was in New York (she was living in Portland, Maine at the time) and is now sorry about the missed opportunities.

The Auld Grump

RIP Glenn Frey as well. I am not a huge Eagles fan but I think he was a fantastic musician.

Both great artists, both will be missed as well as them not creating anymore new great music.

We also lost this past week:
- Alan Rickman (69 - Professor Snapes; Hans Gruber - Die Hard; voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - movie; etc.)
- Bob Denver [70 - Gilligan]
