I thought I'd start sharing some of my groups various adventures... Our Wednesday night RPG group has a semi-fluid membership due to job situations and other Real Life Stuff (like, whose doesn't?). But, we ave a penchant for playing one story scene setting in one Rule System and genre, then changing to another, and then another - eventually getting around to one we played before and continuing with our previously run characters, etc., etc.
Our members are older (thirtysomething, at least) and this has given me the opportunity to experience "new" Old Systems I had never ever played or even heard of before. -Night Life (I play a Dresden inspired Sorceror) -Ghost Busters, International (though we use the Savage Worlds System) -Low Life (and if that ain't a kick in the pants adult humoresque thingy! - I play a Holy Roller whose shtick is that the Humans will one day return and you better be on the right side of things when they do! The Church of the Human Return) -Pathfinder a la a CSI theme (we are the 4th string investigative squad in a large fantasy city - not the Platinum squad, nor Gold Squad, nor even Silver squad - we are the Copper Squad! I play an Oread Oracle) -Deadlands (a more regular character, but with the twist that he dresses and acts as a preacher [non-Blessed] but who is actually a spy for the Swedish government under cover as a Lutheran Church [the state Church] Ambassador to check up on the Swedish kin who had migrated to the States whose job is to find and acquire weird tech. -Deadlands Noir (an actor Reginald Braxton, an action hero ladies man styled after Ronald Reagan and Buster Crabbe combined). -Warhammer Fantasy (a female Wood Elf minstrel) - we used the Central Casting Rules to generate backgrounds for our characters - always an intriguing prospect!
Anyhoo, the important goodie coming up is that our regular Game Master (some of the other guys run some of the various scenarios) came up with a grand crossover idea. We made up characters using Savage Worlds for M.I.B. and R.I.P.D. Then he's going to run a single story scene for each of them and Ghostbusters - with each story having a Hook. All three hooks will give a lead in to a massive crossover story wherein Ghostbusters, Men in Black and R.I.P.D. officers meet up together in the pursuit of whatever-it-is. This will be run over the course of this summer and is bound to be a hoot!

Wow! What a variety. I have been out of RPing for a while (not for lack of desire) but do enjoy regular board game nights. I have a monthly group where we all bring games and play a few a night. I also started a monthly Arkham Horror group with some of the same people which I hope continues as I love that game.
I would love to do more RPing as well, just have not found the people for it yet.

That box of LBBs is what I am most used to playing - although it has been a looong while since. I have over the past handful of years been accumulating the other editions, including the new T5 which I supported on Kickstarter.
I will be using mostly CT rules, supplemented by the T5. As a Referee, I am always looking out for the other goodies to through into the mix from the other editions. I am having my players make their character with the T5 because there is just so much stuff in it - all random off the tables. But it will be awhile before my scenario campaign finds its way into the que for my Wednesday night group.

So... Currently, as I may have said, we are in the middle of a Deadlands scenario and our train from Memphis to Jackson, Mississippi (I spelled that right, right? At my age I sometimes have trouble rembering the difference between the River and the State - Har-Har) when our train was ambushed by a railed steam conveyance carrying a small army of voodoo zombies. We spent the last two sessions temporarily converted to Rail Wars versions of ourselves and fought the battle as paper miniatures. Our GM, who is an artist known as "Crash" - DVG, Dale Griffiths (he has a Patreon thing for original art sketches; known very well endowed ladies; even did a calendar last year with his interpretation of the classic Universal Monsters... but I ramble and digress). He even made up little trifold standup minis of our game characters. The battle won, we will return to regular Deadlands rules for next week's session.
Iwas hoping to post a sample of his work, but I guess you'll just have t look him up on Patreon.

That's awesome! I love mingling rules if it's done correctly.
I was reading an article on FFG's website about integrating starfighter skirmishes via X-Wing into the Star Wars RPG to make them stand out. I've been wanting to try that, but I really need an RPG group first! Hah.
Do you have a link to DVG's patreon? I did a quick search but did not find anything.

Update on the Game: In our installment this week for Deadlands, our intrepid group of 5 adventurers disembarked from the train at Jackson, Mississippi at 4am, while the rest of those we had met onboard since we had Memphis continued on their own missions to New Orleans - the Confederate Soldiers, and Miss Devlin (owner of the railroad, on in the midst of continuing her part of the Rail Wars against the the Rail Baron La Crois who had probably been behind last night's ambush against her train with a small hoard of voodoo zombies).
We were met at the station by a group of 10 desperados who had been sent by the Sorceror Fansom to prevent us from interfering with his business - the grabbing of a Hand of Glory we had been sent to retrieve to prevent falling into his hands. My faux Reverand's first two actions were shots that took down the leader of the gang (in the process taking one wound to the left leg and a triple wound to the same leg which I 'made go away' by the use of bennie chips). As he fell, my Reverand pithed (in a Swedish accent), "I didn't sail 9 weeks on a sailing vessel crossing the ocean to be brought down by the likes of you!" I was rolling very hot that night, popping dice (rolling the max for that die and being able to reroll that die (up to 5 times in one instance!) and adding the extra rolls to the total. I received a few more single wounds while my comrades and I took out the others - only to suffer a 3 wound to the head in the final volley exchange puttng me winded on the ground basically out of the fight. Our Blessed preacher Cogg (former Confederate chaplain) healed my head wound. The rest of our wounds were patched up by a new local doctor before we hurried on our way.
We knew we were in a race against time to reach Emil, our contact, before Fansom did - and he had a head start. We arrived at the farm of Emil's cousin (where he had gone into hiding to try and avoid Ransom finding him), but it was too late for Emil. Fortunately we were able to heal his cousin from near death - much to the rejoicing of his almost widow and son. His son showed us a shortcut cross country so that wee could catch up with Fansom's steam carriage as it tooled down the road.
Next session, we will catch up with and encounter the Sorceror face to face and hopefully retrieve the Hand of Glory.

Forgot that I hadn't made an update... Our shortcut allowed us to get ahead of the steam carriage. We were able to drag a large broken branch across most of the road, but the driver was able to swerve around the other edge of the road to avoid it. Our half-breed Indian/Mexican had climbed a tree at that side and successfully jumped onto the carriage and proceeded to smash a hole into the rear of the driver compartment and begin attacking him. Our former outlaw gunfighter shot ended up shooting on of the wheels. placing a damage and potential reliability issue with the conveyance. Our half-breed took out the driver causing it to crash into a tree, and smashed a hole in the roof. He was subsequently able to be fired upon by the occupants: the Sorceror and his posse, two gunmen and two Hucksters (which serve as magic users in the game system). The occupants attempted to leave the carriage are were fired upon. The Sorceror, once he saw the forces against him (remember this is the guy who sent 10 gunfighters to take us out at the train station as we arrived at the city) took the better part of "valor" and fled by using a "shadowwalk" type spell to the shadow of a tree he could see 30' away. Our Blessed Preacher noticed him and shot at him but missed. The Sorceror shadowwalked again, but the Blessed caught sight of him again and pulled a Blinding miracle upon him, thus preventing him from using that spell anymore. "Well played, " he said. The others were either killed or captured during the battle. We recovered the Hand of Glory, my faux preacher (Swedish tech spy, former artillery officer with engineering background) got the carriage going again, and we delivered them to the authorities and return to Memphis with the artifact.
This week, even though several of the players couldn't attend, we played the first episode of the massive crossover - R.I.P.D. officers. I was the ex-FBI agent who looked like a wiry old man (think old Don Knotts), our Roman Centurian looking like a loud proud black woman, and old western miner looking like a modern Hispanic street Rapper. we were handed a case where there was a spell book with a spell which could turn someone immortal by severing their soul, that some Deados wre after it, and that we had to keep the young woman who had inherited the book from her Occult Researcher uncle from finding out what was really in the book and about the Afterlife stuff we operated within. We posed as City Inspectors to gain access to the large house in order to search for the Book. It turned out there were 4 Deados as a gang, their leader being her "boyfriend". While 2 of us followed 2 of them who took the girl to a "meeting" with her boyfriend, our Centurian stayed behind because we spotted another sneaking into the house. Marcus dispatched the Deado and found the Book, then left to catch up with us. Meanwhile, the other three and the girl met at a shelter at the park (it was now evening) - Gabby (miner/rapper) and I tailed them and snuck up to watch and hear what was going on. Gabby had a Motivation specialty which allowed him to figure out that the "boyfriend" was trying to see if she was "the one" for him, in which case he would use the spell to make her immortal; if not, she would be the sacrifice to use it on someone else. We tricked the other two into walking down the road into the darkness so we could ambush them, then high-tailed it back to the girl and "boyfriend" when we heard her scream. The Deado had figured the jig was up when he heard one of our shots. (Actually, one of our two quarry had tried to turntail but ended up running his head right into Marcus' Soulkiller Gladius - he used a sword because he was just too 'old fashioned' to have ever come round to using "modern" firearms). I used my Rooftop Chase specialty to run back to protect the girl, bounding over the truckbed, hoods and rooftops of their vehicles. Gabby ran around the outbuilding and tried an impressive, "Freeze! FBI!" - to which I quickly replied, "That's MY line!" The Deado had the girl with a knife at her throat as shield. My instant Act-First-and-Think-About-the-Consequences-Later response was to shoot for his head THROUGH the girl. [Acting totally in character!] It was a successful double head shot (getting them both), but I had rolled my Ghost Die as a six - which meant OOPS! The Deado was out of commission, but the girl was on her way to heading for the Light. We had to roll a total of 50 points between us to save her: Marcus made 50-something himself using his Leadership skill, Gabby got 40-something, and my Interrogation skill ("This photo is of your uncle, we know how much he wants you to carry on his work!") We were successful, but because of the way we brought her back, she was able to see us for what we really were. Our mission "successful", we were transported back with the Book to our Precinct. Our Captain said that because of the circumstances, the Higher Ups had decided that when she later would die a natural death, she would be offered a position as a Research Clerk with the R.I.P.D. Taking the Book to the Evidence Room, we ran into one of the R.I.P.D. Deado snitches who spouted some crazy intel about Aliens messing with the Dead in an attempt to take over the world. [Hook!]
Fun times, especially for a one-night session!

I've gotten behind in my posts. In the *previous* week's installment: My M.I.B - Agent N, female former Soviet spy-officer Nikita Vasileenov, 4'5", 99 pounds, and her two alien MiB agent partners - Agent Z and Agent Y [-because-] were sent by transpad to Phoenix to take over the murder case of an alien small businessman from the two younger less experienced agents in the area. Arriving on a little used highway, adjacent to the standard MIB Lincoln POS, N drove with the red button down until they reached the city limits. Transforming back into regular travelling mode while passing a pair of good ol' boys drinking beers in their frontyard lawnchairs, one poured out his beer, cracked a new one, cmmenting, "Bad Beer." Their was a witness to the murder - another alien was was capable of camoflage invisibility who described a bat-winged alien with tentacle probiscus that attacked and killed his friend. Following a lead of a street fight, we arrived outsde an apartment building where police officers had reports from witnesses that said the altercation had continued on into the apartments. Agent Z - a polymorphing silicon rabbitoid - parkoured up th backside of the buliding towards the roof. Agent Z - an "immortal" (partially by virtue that they usually don't take chances unless careful thought out) with a problem of making consistent human speech - and I grabbed our jetpacks from the trunk. While Z flashed the onlookers and cops - telling them that they had witnessed giant gophers breed by a deranged lunatic and that they should all go home to safety, escorted by the cops - I used my acrobatics to fly straight up and threw an open 4th floor window. I rolled successfully high, but with an 'oops" on my ghost die. Our GM determined I made it through the window okay, but overshot the apartment and flew through the door into the hallway and up threw the roof stairwell - getting my jetpack stuck in the roof exit door, feet dangling. I could see from my viewpoint one alien fighting our murder suspect, and another slight female alien training a small crossbow at an insectoid she was holding above the ground by the throat. Agent Y [-because-, yes this was the running joke!] at that moment flipped up over the roof edge and did a Reed Richards wrap around the suspect. I released my harness restraint and landed in weapon stance on the roof and yelled, "Freeze! M.I.B.! We have jurisdiction here!" The female said, "Okaaay...", lowing her collar to the floor - and her bow. The other said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa - we don't want trouble. But don't let that one get away!", referring to the bat-winged suspect. One of my character goals was to look more intimidating (remember I'm 99 pounds and 4'5"), and the GM awarded my 5 brownie points for achieving that.
Turns out these other two aliens were acolytes of a dieing Alien Martial Arts Master, the last of his race who had been wiped out by these bat-winged creatures. And Earth seems to be their next target...
This week, we did the Ghostbuster episode. Two of our usual team were joined by another pair: one a female twin motorcycle Romani Ghostbuster of one of our members, the other a Colorado red-neck with a tricked out 4-wheel drive super ambulance (his partner had not yet arrived to join us). We got a call from the police to a house on the outskirts on the other side of town where the usual weird inverse cyclone clouds were overhead and greenish lights were flashing from within. Entering (being actually slowly sucked THROUGH the front door) we found the owner - a disavowed ex-NASA researcher, due to his theories on alien spirits - had an alien artifact imbedded into his chest. Before finding him, we encountered several agitated Native Indian ghosts who were intent on attacking us. My character, Serling Pertwee, used his special Cool ability of Oratory to convince the spirits that we were not their enemy and got them to join us in fighting the influence that had disturbed their rest. The owner was not in control of himself and the intelligence within the alien artifact brought 6 ghosts who were "evilized" (they were filled with red energy) to fight us. We defeated them by attacking the artifact, in effect shutting it down so it dropped out of the owner's body, releasing the red energy hold on the ghosts. They all disapted, except for one who was a former modern day combat specialist who mentioned, "Hey guys, I'll have to catch up you later - I just got a job offer." [This was an R.I.P.D. reference.)
Next week - the BIG Crossover!
~I knew I should have taken that left turn at Albequerque... but I know where my towel is!
