Deep? Meaningful? Not even a little bit - ... Sort of about a super hero... kinda.... But it does have RPGs in it! The Auld Grump |

- a 'Status Quo Gag A DAy Comic About Three Not Very Nice People'. No continuity, no character development. But funny. Be warned, language can be a trifle coarse. The Auld Grump |

Apparently GW also believes that publishing ebooks in the 40K series now gives them a common law trademark on the term "space marines". And has had amazon block the publishing of other ebooks that use the term. http://mcahogarth.org/ |

The term 'Space Marine' in printed form dates back to before Livingston was a twinkle, let alone the company he gave birth to - 1936. They also issued a C&D over the term 'Orks' about a decade ago. The Auld Grump, I really hope that they hurry up and go bankrupt already.... *EDIT* A lawyer is already taking up the case, pro bono. |

The corporations are sure trying to run copyright and trademark laws into the ground. Some other author who published first should try suing GW for copyright infringement using the exact same grounds. Surely GW use any number of other terms aside from "space marine" that other people came up with. |

If Mike had ended up paying out to Hasbro/WotC then it's a sure bet that Hasbro/WotC would have required some public statement to about that to vindicate their actions. Instead, it looks a lot like Hasbro/WotC ended up paying out (and to save face negotiated a non-disclosure clause to cover that detail), as Mike got everything back (with only minor changes), and there's no apology to WotC and no mention of costs in his statement. Sadly, the only people who will have really won out of this will be the lawyers. Sad too how these days civil law tends to follow the 'guilty until proven innocent' principle for people with limited resources. Just glad that he managed to connect up with a good IP lawyer who works on commission (which I'm assuming Mr Golden does) who would take on the case. |

There have also been an increasing number of lawyers that have been willing to work pro bono publico in some of the more daft IP cases. Spot the Space Marine being a recent example. The Auld Grump |

The Space Marine topic is just - ballzy, on the part of GW, wow. Glad to see that someone faced a titan and won though. Small business is hard enough. |

Wow, went to check on , and for the first time in three years it has updated! Reinder Dijkhuis is possibly the coolest name for a webcartoonist, anywhere.* (He is from Hoogezand, the Netherlands.) Be warned - there is nudity - much of it casual. And not everybody that you will see sans habille looks good nekkid. (The hero is about forty pounds overweight, and middle aged.) There are multiple plots, not all of which get nice tidy endings. And the main characters are, well, rogues.... The Auld Grump * For horror writers the prize goes to Owl Goingback - he is a Native American. |

is an... amazingly cute and harmless RPG comic, complete with battle maps and dice rolls. I found it because the most recent Campaign Cartographer Annual is a template and images based on the mapping style of the comic. It reads very much like very young players in an RPG written for very young players. The Auld Grump |

Unconnected to anything in particular... . Very definitely a webcomic. Amateur art, sometimes bad spelling, but fun. A world where super heroes are mostly about merchandising. Where the head of the largest group of villains (Naughtiness Inc.) is named Mr. Evil - and is still on Santa's 'Nice' list despite being a villain for over fifty years.... (Many super heroes consider him a mentor.) Where most heroes and villains are temps.... Sometimes for both sides. (Like an actor taking minor roles, waiting for the big break.) There are hundreds of jobs being a super hero or villain... and thousands of aspirants. (A lot like acting.) Where the main character is a super villain, trying to make ends meet. Working temps....
