Thanks for the comments guys. Grump, while Dunjinni (however it's spelled) appears to be a great map-making program (I really haven't taken her for a spin yet), it lacks much of the campaing buidling and combat tracking capabilities of the other programs. I want to be able to run an encounter without forgetting exactly who has been blessed and for how long kind of thing. Phatz, I have a feeling this is the route I'm going to have to go. I know johnnygs, it saddens me as well. There is perhaps one program, though: GMGen, as part of PCGen. Does anyone have any experience with this? Alright, I'm running a bit late--have to get myself to the REAL Mass. Interestingly, it looks like dear old Benedict would like to see a bit of a return to the traditional Latin mass. Who else thinks it will be funny when the Italian press starts calling him "Papa Ratzi"? |

You're in luck. There is one that I know about. Its meant for virtual gaming, but can easily be used in a local gaming situation easily. Take a look at OpenRPG: http://www.openrpg.com/ Its open source under the GNU/GPL license, which is a nice bonus. I believe Klooge is also cross-platform compatible, being built from Java (and unlike DJ, not using platform-specific calls - DJ had to have a special Mac port because of the way it was built). You can find Klooge here: http://www.kloogeinc.com/index.html |

I'm waiting on from Code Monkey Publishing. They make eTools, but rpg toolkit and the addons look very promising, and are being written to be cross platform. They're saying they're looking at a Q2 2005 release... only a couple of months to go if they stay on schedule... |
