Post subject: | Dungeon Adventure Path: Age of Worms |
ok, hoyagery got me excited with his talk of running the Dungeon magazine Shackled City Adventure path using WorldWorks scenery/models. I am about to start a campaign with the kids and was going to write it from scratch, but taking a look I see that Dungeon's new adventure path starts this month. It's called The Age of Worms. Issue #124 will be mailing on May 17th with the first adventure, and there will be a total of 12 adventures over the next year covering all 20 levels. I'm hoping it's something that will work for my campaign. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for my first magazine from my subscription to arrive ![]() If I can use the adventures, I'm going to definitely try to run as much of it using miniatures and WW sets as possible, so I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread here listing what we know. I've garnered this information from the Dungeon magazine forums: What we know about Age of Worms: SETTING -- Set in Greyhawk. -- Characters are from the Diamond Lake area. -- Temparate Environment for the most part. at least one tropical adventure. terrain covered: -- Hills -- Swamps -- Cities -- Jungle -- Islands -- Canyons -- There should be a "dungeon" in every adventure, although the dungeons in a few will be fairly small. -- There will be caves, but it's unlikely any will reach the underdark. -- No planar travel this time around -- Each installment of "Age Of Worms" will have extensive details on how to more fully adapt the campaign to Forgotten Realms and to Eberron. Each will be around 1000 words long. The FR notes will be provided by Eric Boyd. The Eberron notes will be provided by Keith Baker. CHARACTERS -- Tyralandi Scrimm - 1st level Cleric of Wee Jas - female -- Aroval "Demon Boy" - Sorcerer -- image http://superunicorn.com/diamond_lake/demonboy.jpg -- Dram Cicaeda - Scout? -- Gar Blitzhame - Male Dwarf Fighter -- Abelard Albrecht Volker - Male Human Paladin -- DaeJin Moon - Female Half-Elf Ranger -- Taan Goldenoak - Male Valley Elf Sorcerer -- VYTH - Male Human Ninja (yeah, you heard me, ninja) FROM ADVENTURE PATH 1 - SHACKLED CITY -- Ebon Triad are major villains in the Age of Worms Adventure Path, and will feature prominently in at least half of the adventures therein. -- Celeste will be involved -- The storyline has nothing to do with the Cagewrights or Adimarchus -- The Age of Worms takes place about three months after the end of the Shackled City Adventure Path. -- The near-destruction of Cauldron (and the role the Ebon Triad played in that fateful event) are mentioned in the lead-in adventure. -- Some believe that the volcanic eruption was a precursor to the advent of the Age of Worms, the Waiting Age, a time of darkness and writhing doom that haunts the shadows of every tomorrow. -- Kyuss is the Harbinger of the Age of Worms. As a mortal, he once lived near Cauldron, in a haunted locale known as the Spire of Long Shadows. The PCs will visit that locale in adventure about mid-way through the Age of Worms Adventure Path. BOOKS MATERIAL IS DRAWN FROM: -- core rulebooks -- Draconomicon -- Libris Mortis -- Fiend Folio -- Monster Manual II -- Monster Manual III -- Book of Vile Darkness possibly also: -- the four Complete books (Warrior, Divine, Arcane, and Adventurer) -- Lords of Madness -- Epic Level Handbook MISC -- Undead will abound in the adventure path -- dragons will also play a role |

Ok, I posted a topic in the Dungeon forum asking for more of the character writeups for the characters from the first adventure, and Erik Mona himself responded saying he'll be posting more tomorrow. I love the internet. Where else would you get the editor in chief responding to you? -- EDIT: Sweet! Erik didn't get the writeups posted yesterday, but he's just posted a bunch a few minutes ago. I added the new characters we know about to the first message in this thread. |
