Although in my games he'll be a Cleric. I wanted a fancy looking one, so I chose one of the new GW ones. Had quite a blast painting him, and really enjoyed watching how he turned out, especially the freehand, whic I'm really only just getting the hang of. Has always scared me in the past in case I buggered up all the hard work I'd already done. Hmmmmmm, my Barbarian may just have to see the light and turn into this guy for my next game.......... |

That's an awesome paint job that's made me sick as a pig. I've got that bad boy in my painting queue and have been putting him off for similar reasons. I didn't want to screw up the book text and wanted to do something special with the cloak. Nice blending on that cloak. Got any more piccies of your other work? |

Thanks everyone. I'm really pleased with him myself, it's not often that I get that pleased with a mini, but this one really wants me to change my normal game character to a Cleric. Shadegate: I do have loads more pictures, if you follow the link in my signature below. Here's a sample of what I've done: It's best to view all the albums there tho', as I have some Sci-Fi stuff too, still have a load to add from my computer as well. Need more than 24hrs in a day now!!!! |

Very nice paint jobs. Shading and detailing on the warrior priest are very good, especially on the Fiery Comet of Sigmar. Better than I can do. And you seem to avoided a trap that I have fallen into way too often: Giving the ogres stripy pants! (When you look at my ogres and dwarfs they look strangely similar sometimes... in my games they are separate species of the same genus, odd as it sounds dwarfs are a breed of giant in my games, just very short giants.) For some reason I pictured a player piano behind the Scrunts, and sawdust on the floor rather than diamond plate. (Cue 'Beer for My Horses, Whisky for my Men' ![]() The Auld Grump, also addicted to check patterns, but I hate doing tartans.... |

Thanks, Bob's kinda taking the Texans towards a futuristic backwater type setting, so a piano wouldn't be out of place at all, I just wanted to potray them ripping off the weapons they use. Ha! TBH I was very tmpted to paint stripey trousers on the ogre, but had seen quite a few when I did him, so decided against it. |

Ogres with flesh tones as well. I'm not the only one. I never liked the grey colour they insisted on using in the GW Ogre Kingdoms book. I originally did my Golfag's Ogres regiment of reknown in flesh tones and followed suit with the ogre kingdoms Where do the 'Texan' dwarves come from? |

Those are awesome Bruenor. Only wish I could paint like that - but my eyes just can't cope with small detail stuff, never have. |

Semi related - I just finished a commission to paint an Olly dwarf in a Hawaiian flowered shirt. I even modeled a camera to hang around his neck. Bright orange and magenta flowers, and a lai. Sometimes people want strange things, but now I am oddly tempted to make the Dwarf Tourist figure again, this time for myself. ![]() The Auld Grump |

Bruenor, you really do outstanding painting work. Do you also paint larger sculptures? Say ... up to 9 in. tall. I'm just wondering. |

I remember him, though I had forgotten his name ![]() Those minis inspire a sense of nostalgia, but also reminds me of the original days playing D&D and how wonderful the world seemed to game in. I have always enjoyed earlier levels of adventure, and get bored when attempting to fight Dragons, walk across planes, battle gods, etc. To me, the adventuring is the fun part, not the progressing to godhood. I guess that's why I only play skirmish games these days ![]() EDIT: Wow, looking around that site I found a mini I still have who I used for most of my D&D days. He was a human fighter (boring I know, but fun) who ended up owning his own castle, and having a couple of travelling companion henchmen. I decided that I wanted to decorate the entrance corridor of my keep with the mounted heads of the variety of creatures I had slain, so went on a quest to collect heads. The fun and games began when my henchmen were carrying a few heads and they started to rot... guess I didn't prepare very well ![]() Anyway, I never realized the mini was just a guard captain from the Citadel Lone Wolf range. He's in the middle, bottom row: And I also found the character I used later when I needed a new fighter with a horse. It turns out it was Boromir from the original Lord of the Rings Range. Looking around this this site is fun ![]() Arabin |

Yeah, Stuff of Legends brings back some very fond memories. I found it years ago when I was looking for an old Dragontooth giant - Still one of my favorite giants, I wish that I had picked him up way back when. The Auld Grump |

That's the only downside to that site. You get all excited about figures you used to own that have vanished over the years, and about the ones you always wanted but never got. Then you inevitably head to ebay, but if you are lucky enough to find that mini on offer, it'll be priced extremely high. I'm seeing lots on the site that I do own, and lots that I don't have anymore. Mainly though, I see ones I wish I had ![]() Arabin |
