Read an article about this in the paper and decided to give it a try. So here I am, using Safari on WinXP. So far so good. The font is definitely different. Everything seems to be loading well. Odd sensation, however since it most definitely still looks like Apple software. for anyone interested in trying it. |

I started using Firefox on my Windows machine because NMCI doesn't allow anything but EDS provided PCs on their network and I couldn't stand IE, especially since Microsoft can't seem to create software to save their lives. Then I discovered all the Firefox extensions, especially and so it became my default browser on my work Mac also. Unfortunately, Firefox doesn't support the Mac's services which I use extensively in conjunction with for clipping articles, tutorials, etc, so I mostly use Safari on my home Mac. One really good use I've found for Firefox at home (in addition to web development) is to synch with my Firefox (Win) bookmarks at work using and then use to coordinate that with Safari (only takes about a minute for the whole process). This has turned out to be a very easy way to have just one set of bookmarks. (Now if there was just a Navy-approved Windows version of it would be even simpler.) Until Safari starts having some features comparable with Firefox's extensions or Firefox starts supporting the Mac's services I'm stuck with having to use two browsers. |
