Was looking through HPs post about his monitor and got me thinking about MMOs again...specifically who is playing what. I'm still playing World of Warcraft (Shadowsong server, Horde side of course), but I'm getting burned out on it again (seems to happen every 3 months or so). I saw Arabin said he pre ordered LotR and was wondering; didja get it? another friend and I were both considering it since we both enjoyed the beta but were playing WoW. Now I think we're both ready. Anyway, found a great deal for the next 48 hours at if anyone else is interested. |

Yeah, I play LOTRO, and had been wondering if you were in the game or not. It's a lot of fun and I play quite a lot. I haven't been on much in the last couple of weeks, mainly due to work situation and house maintenance, but I do play there when I can, and I'm in a pretty good guild. If you get the game, be sure to join on the server called: Silverlode My main character is Arabin, but I have a few others too. Just give me a shout when you get in, and let me know your name. We'll figure out the rest from there. The only other online games I've been playing recently are Ticket to Ride (got the board game and PC game version), and Urban Dead. Arabin |

Ticket to Ride?! Now there is some golden gaming goodness!!! My wife is definitely NOT a gamer and when I brought this little gem home she became addicted to it (both the board game and the web based version). |

There is also actually a PC game version, which has a few additional features over the web version. It's a blast to play, and with so many options, not to mention ways to block others, it's hard to win regularly. Of course, if you only play with two players, it more strategic planning than outright warfare, but I really enjoy the game. Glad to find another who enjoys a great game like this. Arabin |

ON a somewhat related note, how many of you 360 owners have Settlers of Catan for XBL Arcade? It would be really sweet to get a group together to play a bit. Too bad my 360 is off for repairs... (and has been for nearly a MONTH ![]() Sacretis |

Kane, I look forward to seeing you in game. When you create your first character on Silverlode. If you drop me mail, I'll pick it up when I'm online and will add you to my friends list in game. I was one of those that pre-ordered the game, and so got in on the oh-so-sweet deal to pay $200 for a lifetime membership. It worked out well, since right now I need to cut a few things from my budget and tighten the purse a little, but I never have to pay LOTRO any money ![]() I used to really enjoy COH and then COV, but I after a while I realized I was spending more time on creating new whacky characters on any servers where I still had slots, than I was actually playing the game. It is superb, and there is nothing quiet like the feeling when you first learn to fly, but I just got bored. EQ2 I stayed away from. I enjoyed the first one, but a lot of times I like to play solo in a multiplayer environment. No everyone understands that, but it's what I enjoy. I like to have friends around to partner or group with when either of us needs or wants it, but a lot of times I'll just hunt, or something on my own. EQ didn't support that after about level 14 and groups were required for anything. I heard EQ2 was the same. So the following kill the game for me: group only, high spec reqs, and it's SOE. I'm really enjoying LOTRO right now. Arabin |

Heh, well in that case, there is no game better than COH/COV for that. One of these days I'll renew my sub, if only to take screenshots of all the characters I created... and create some more of course. I actually ran a guild in COH, called Justice Department, which was an official Judge Dredd guild... approved by Rebellion even ![]() Cest la vie. Arabin |

Kane, my PC is actually a little lower spec than yours! I used to have a really fast PC and update it regularly, but I haven't been able to for a few years now. This puppy is almost 4 years old, which in gaming terms makes it ancient. Lord A, I didn't have high expectations for LOTRO and was sure I wouldn't like it, but it has to be experienced to be understood. Everything really feels right. I'm sure at some point down the line, they will offer a free trial, but right now, they don't need to. It has all the ease and depth that WOW does, but seems richer somehow. Sure, there are issues, as with any game, but it's the most fun I've had in a while. Teaflax, firstly I am extremely jealous about your pinball machine. I've looked at them on Ebay from time to time, but I can't afford one right now. One day I'll own one. I have friends who are hooked on Puzzle Pirates, but I haven't tried it yet. My mum is hooked on RuneQuest, which I thought was kinda cute. I was/am in the beta for Pirates of the Burning Sea and was really disappointed. I need to check it out again as they have apparently made huge changes, but as cool as pirates are, games often struggle to get the feel right. It should be all about swashbuckling... not so much about the day to day running of a ship. With LOTRO, more often than not, I'm actually surprised when I level. I'll be off gathering crafting materials, or working on a deed (great idea in this game) or something else that isn't connected to leveling exactly, and will suddenly notice the level up sound and graphics. For me, that says a lot for the game. Arabin |

I really enjoyed COH/V when it came out, but when I hit level 50 finally, about 6 months ago and I have been playing since it first came out, so you can tell I'm a somewhat casual player, but after I hit 50, I lost major interest in the game. Another thing that killed me for it was the constant nerfing they did with the characters. I'd create a particular type of character and be all set with powers and such and they'd do something that would make my character less effective. I was also playing DDO, but was bored with it as well, so cancelled my account so I could start up a WoW account. I'll only have 2 subscription games going at the same time at the most. I'm really looking forward to the Marvel and Star Trek games, but am worried about Marvel because of who's behind the development. Hopefully the lead developers won't ruin it. Apparently my visions of game play don't always match theirs! ![]() Skunk You wanna be alright you gotta walk tall Long Beach Dub Allstars & Black Eyed Peas Check out what games I’m working on and their status by visiting . |

If you fancy trying LOTRO, drop me a PM with your email. I can refer you as a friend so you can try it for 10 days. Kane has already taken me up on this offer, and he should soon be able to confirm this, but I believe the first five people I recommend might be able to get the founder pricing... I'm not going to guarantee that as we won't know until Kane activates his full game code. Details of the referral program are here: Anyway, if you are interested, you can try it for 10 days and see if you like it. Arabin |

So Kane is a Loremaster, eh? What class are you Arabin? When I get in game I will want to create a character that will fit well within the group, though I am leaning somewhat to a minstrel. |

Minstrel's are fun, and always welcome in any group. My main is a Human hunter. Arabin |

Minstrel it is then. As an added bonus, I have just become aware that the music is encoded using ABC format and I have a TON of ABC formatted music already! Mostly all Irish folk music, but I may try to encode some Joe satriani for some kicks. |
