Thought maybe I would pop this up here and see what most people thought. I'm in the middle of creating my GURPS campaign and it is going to consist of high levels of magic and some magic null zones, magic basins, ley lines, random portals to outer realms that sort of thing. I will be using my world as examples but you can easily use your favorite novels, games (either video or pen or paper), etc. I'm not going to pretend to be some sort of great economist, or even have more than the basic knowledge of anthropology otherwise why would I need your opinions on this ![]() Now I've been using by S. John Ross to get most of my basic stuff down. The newest one allows you to customize the profession script and that really helps give you an idea of how many wizards you would have per area. my continents are long and thin for the most part and no natural deserts exsist. Now at least two of my nations will have high excessive magic levels. This I figure would pretty much halt most technology levels and increase crop growth or the people supported per square mile of settled land. So I can assume a higher population in these lands compared to others. What kind of social backlash would there be? At least two areas will be having a nul magic area (one of them settled by choice) so higher technology or still grubbing in the dirt? What are your thoughts? |

One of the best examples I have seen of the treatment of magic in socity and as technology is the Eberron campain setting. Check it out. Robert |
