Three very different options: 1) Gangs of Mega City One Heavily Judge Dredd themed, but a great game, and the core rules (without the wacky stuff) could be used to do fast and simple modern small group skirmishes (5-10 figs per side) 2) Chain Reaction Very unusual set of rules, reaction driven. Your troops might not always do what you want them to! Again, good for small/medium group skirmishes (5-20 figs per side). Theres a sci-fi specific version (5150) but I haven't seen it in the flesh. 3) Stargrunt II For larger engagements, handles WWI to slightly futuristic combat. Squad level, about 20 -30 figs per side is good. All three are worth looking into - let me know if you want more details! Steve |

Thanks for all the suggestions. Gangs of mega city one looks favourite at the moment, particularly with my son. Brings back fond memories of my Judge Dread graphic novel collection in the 80's as well. (Plus DR and Quinch's guide to life) I know I said no clix. but I really like the hero clix mini's it's the 'blind booster' concept that turns me off. Might pick some up on ebay though. |

Have you looked at Battlefield Evolution? They are re-planning their manufacturing at the moment, so the minis line is on hold at the moment, but they have already produced quite a number of figures. It's non-random prepainted figures... I play Starship Troopers and the system is the same... it's simple, sensible and lots of fun! |
