Well I have picked up the two first issues of Pathfinder. In my opinion the book/magazine is: A. Overpriced ($20.00 an issue) B. Really very good. Sadly, the two are not exclusive. Fortunately, Amazon discounts them enough to be worth getting. The current adventure path is a good deal edgier that anything that was in Dungeon - people die, sometimes horribly (molten glass + protection from fire = a horrible way to die...), The villains are villainous enough to make you glad when they die. The adventure path has holes, deliberate holes, into which a DM is encouraged to drop his own adventures. Several adventure sites are placed on the maps that have no current content - the idea is that the DM will put something there, if he feels like it. No longer licensed to use D&D monsters past the SRD Paizo has started using creatures from third party publishers to good effect, so far Advanced Bestiary by Green Ronin and Tome of Horrors by Necromancer have been used prominently. All in all I find the adventures to be more cohesive than was common for Dungeon, if only the magazine wasn't quite so darned expensive.... But I have to get the third adventure at the least, it has hillbilly ogres in it. ![]() The Auld Grump |

Hmmm, compared to most (but not all) Dungeon adventures the scenarios are rather deadly, but that is a D20 caveat. For SW... I have no idea. I found the first two issues to be the best - which is not to say that the later adventures are bad, just that the first two are excellent. I might make the goblins fey rather than humanoids, but that is just based on my preferences and the feel of these particular, very chaotic, goblins. Somewhere there is an MP3 of the goblin song, let me see if I can find it. Dum de dum... . And some without MP3 - . The Auld Grump |
