Anyone remember the movie Labyrinth? 1986, David Bowie, Jennifer Connely, and a bunch of muppets? Anyways, I bought the movie for my girls as a Christmas present. Please understand that their lives revolve around fiaries and goblins... you would not believe how they are attached to this movie! They act (and even say on occasion) like this is the greatest thing ever. It is so pleasing to see the new generation so thoroughly immersed in fantasy... Anyways, I just wanted to share. |

One of my favorite movies. ![]() Brian Froud's work brought to the screen, nasty goblins, Hoggle, and of course Sir Didymous and his faithful steed Beaucephalis. The Auld Grump, good thing she didn't go that way. That way would have taken her straight to that awful castle. ![]() |

Great movie! A lot of fantastic one-liners, too. ![]() |

Mcclaud, I proposed to my wife after taking her to see Phantom of the Opera live...I know, it was totally unfair. I had a discussion a while back with a friend of mine about what makes a movie TRULY great. There's a lot of different things that contribute to it, but I think one of the things that has always stood out for me is how quotable a movie is. The Princess Bride is one of the best examples I know of of this phenomina. Toss a relevant quote from the movie out in casual conversation and you'd be amazed how many people will get it, know exactly what you're talking about, and not even have to mention the title. Labyrinth is another truly great movie...and one of the measures that makes it so is its quotability. "It's useless asking you anything!" "Not if you ask the right question." "You say that so often. I wonder what your basis for comparison is." <- My favorite "It's a piece of cake." (oops!) "Next time, surrender!" |

Labyrinth is one of my wife's favorate movies... We actually just watched it not to long ago. Lots of good quotes, but I would not put it in the same catagory as the Princess Bride. That movie has got to be the most quoted movie ever. Everyone (even non-geeks) knows that movie. |

Talking about quotables reminds me (WAY on a tangent here). The one movie that almost everyone I know can quote from extensively yet is actually FUNNIER when talked about instead of WATCHED. Napolean Dynamite. Its really not a great movie. Its only marginally funny, but the one liners are HIGHLY memorable and FUNNIER outside the movie. |

You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power! What power? The power of voodoo... Who do? You do! Do what? Remind me of the Babe. Loved and still love this movie. A classic work of puppeteering. The goblins and the Goblin city are my favorite. Scariest part? David Bowie in way wayy wayyyy too revealing leotards... Yikes! Groovy Escher scene and fitting music at the end with the confrontation with the Goblin king. ~Floyd ps. Ahh Jennifer Connely. If only to be an extra HAND in the falling scene... |

Thought about that one...it's definately high on the quotability scale as well, but it still doesn't beat The Princess Bride. |

Holy Grail doesn't count because the ENTIRE FILM is quotable. Well, it is for me and my friends anyway... |
