I'm not sure I need another addiction, isn't papermodeling enough? ![]() I have some good quality acrylics and brushes. I'll be painting 28mm and 15mm figures. I'm aiming for a decent standard that will look good in the photos. Will any primer do or are some primers more equal than others? Mandy. |

Now if you're worried about layers and highlights, and really don't wnat to get into all that painting lark, there is this route: It's basically woodstain, and quite expensive, but has been developed for fast army painting, you paint on the base colours and dip the mini in the stain, which gives instany shading. Looks quite good, but from what I can gather takes a little while to master how much dip to leave on, and you have no real control over the highlights and such. Might be useful for NPC's or multiple monsters. I haven't used it yet, as I enjoy the actual painting, and being able to say "I did that", but plan to give it a whirl on some NPC Villagers that have sat on my shelf for nearly a year, and need to get in my WWG Village. Not quite as rewarding as doing the whole thing yourself, but fairly quick and with half decent results, good for the non artistic out there. BE WARNED IT IS EXPENSIVE at around £20 a tin, but that tin should last ages. |

I use , very cool stuff, I used to use GW's but when they swapped to the Satin, I still found it too shiney. Testor's Dullcote is good too, have used that, but found the tins too small, and didn't last that long. |

This reminds me, I picked up some floor stain that is JUST stain, no (forgetting the proper term) finish to it. I plan to use it on my skeletons soon (yeah like all my other "soon" project...ugh). Will let you know when/if/how this works. |

I'm a pretty dire painter, but I've learned to not go above my level (at least not on miniatures I may use in game) as they invariably tend to look bad. I now tend to aim for basic colours and minor shading and just get the things done. I think I'm a bit of an oddity in that I don't really have the patience to paint properly, but have this odd need to do it - I've decided to stop even buying miniatures until I either have the bulk of what I've got either painted or ebayed or it's something I really specifically need for a game. I think the only photos of anything I've painted online: |

Can't see nowt wrong with those minis mate at all. In fact I have some of those to do for Bob Olley who sculpted them, in a very similar colour scheme, of Bob's choosing. Snizitch They are from , and are called Scrunts. There a few troop types and Texan Scrunts too, as well as Scrunties the ladies of the race. I've painted a few now, for myself and for Bob himself. |
