Does anyone know of any good downloadable third party counters for car wars vehicles. I've still got my rulebooks from the 80's but seem to have lost my box of zip-loc bags with all the counters. I'm after legitimate replacements rather than illegal copies of the original counters. The sets are still going for stupid money on ebay so I don't want to bid on one just for the counter sheets. Alternatively get 'Maximum Roadrage' published and i'll just jump systems, lol. |

Having lost your counters for Car Wars kinda sucks! I'm sorry, but I don't know of anyone still carrying/producing them. Even SJGames isnt' carrying the original size counters. Have you thought about upgrading to 3D ones by either going to Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars, 3x scale, MicroMachines cars, 1.5x scale or Z-scale model railroad cars? The Z-scale is the closest to original size, if not completely accurate or at least it was close enough for me. Only problem with buying Z-scale is they can get pretty expensive, which is why I've only bought 2 sets of cars. I've got quite a few MicroMachines cars that I use and they're roughly 1.5 times the size of the original rules. I even went so far as to enlarge a few turn keys to the correct size. Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars are of course 3 times the size of the original rules, and of course you can also enlarge a turn key for that too. I mounted my enlarged turn keys on plastic card, so they would be sturdy enough for constant use. 18 years later and they're still in good shape. Course, one has warped a little from being in the car, but it still works well. Anyway, there are a couple of options for you. Hi guys, thanks for all the suggestions. Micro machines sound like a good way to go especially as my kids already have loads of them. this site http://www.esglabs.com/spark/downloads/ Have some excellent resources as well, including scaled turn counters to go with the likes of micro machines etc. I'm also looking at the vehicles from Mayhem PD etc as a future project. Just need to do some sums and get the scale issue sorted |

If you have CC2 or CC3 they have quite a few top down cars that you could make into counters. Although making it 3D and with WWG would be awesome. Time to change the Mayhem armory to "Uncle Al's Auto and Gunnery Shop!" It's been about 15 years since I played Car Wars. Happy days. |

Can you buy the rules as pdf? You know that Games Workshop version - Dark Futures has been released free to the public as a pdf. Also the is a very talented chappy that has make cardstock cars for such gaming on the Savage Worlds forums - PM me if you want his link - they are free also. Talking free cardstock Google One Monk for his battle cars - again they are of the free persuasion. Lord Abaddon of Wormwood |
