Are there any Infinity players around? I've been meaning to get into this one and have more than a few figs but have yet to actually sit down and play the game. Anyone have insights on this game?

Thanks for the info fellas. I was wondering about this game. The minis are beautiful but if game play is ehh, then I don't know how much I want to invest in it.

I like the game a lot for reasons besides just the great minis. For a skirmish game it has lots of things to like, lots of scifi toys, options, and heroes are the thing for me.

It’s a pretty quick playing game, especially at the starter box level, which is good for those of us with either limited time or limited attention span. With 6 characters, around half an hour to an hour, shorter if you screw up. With the usual game size of approximately 10 or so minis, there is not much to paint up either, which is great for me because I paint very slowly.

The quick start rules and the complete rules are available for download at their site, so you can play before you invest.

The thing with infinity is that the minis are expensive. And while you do not need to buy a lot of them, it still adds up quickly. They are beautiful, though.

Like any skirmish game involving only a handful of figures (see also Rezolution, Dark Age, original Confrontation, etc.) the game gets old very quickly if you just deploy your models and fight. It will be lots more fun if you can write your own scenarios so each side has an objective besides killing the other guys. When the combat becomes secondary, the game gets more interesting. At least in my opinion, I could be wrong.

Also, before you invest too heavily, please make suure you have an opponent or two. No fun getting ready to roll and finding out no one will play, even if you have provided both forces, terrain, etc. because they are so excited by the new edition of 40K. Not that I am bitter.
