Post subject: | Siegeworks Saves Germans at Normandy |
I ran a game of Disposable Heroes WW2 skirmish level minis Saturday in Cincinnati at the local Warparty mini-convention, and the Easy Company scenario from the Skirmish Campaigns First Hours - Normandy module called for several feet of trenches connecting 4 German artillery positions. I had bought a sheet of brown felt and cut up a couple of sections to make a representation of trenches, but I wasnt real happy with the overal look. Then I remembered Siegeworks. Printed off 16 sections of trenches, 4 T intersections and some corners, and there I was, a great graphic model of the connecting trenches. Lots of great comments from the players. Now I know what to pull out when I play the Price of Glory WW1 rules and need some trenches in a hurry. Though the trenches arent all that deep, their appearance and letting players know what their fire modifier is at the beginning of the game gave players a great feel for the value of the trenches in this scenario. If you saw the first few episodes of Band of Brothers, this scenario was taken directly from the episode where the Airborne guys attacked the German artillery battery. Unlike the episode, the Airborne guys in our game didn't make it. The Germans kept up a steady shelling of Utah beach while their security elements kept the Airborne guys from doing any effective damage. Tom |

Finally got time to get an album set up and some pics posted. http://wormholegamer.com/photos/display ... at=0&pos=1 They show how much nicer the trenches were than the cheap plastic sandbags I used for the gun positions. ![]() Tom |

Not bad at all. Reminded me, for some reason, of "The Guns of Normandy" about an arty unit. Great book! |
