Just letting you know that PP has released the pdf. rule book to . Now I am the first to say that I hate the whole random, pre-painted minis system that seems to be popular with our industry. I do realise also that they are the cash cow of it also, hence a evil that needs to be carried. On that note I have to say from what I have read of the rules I am very impressed as too the depth of the game which now might just put it on the radar for me. Of course it would be ebay buying through the talented DR999 as randoms are for those that play the one-armed bandits. As I read and get thinking about this game I feel that it would be a perfect oppunity for WWG to slip into this market and ride it's tail. Using the current Mayhem buildings and textures and having one of the team retro fit the buildings into the blocks that the game uses. Also starting to map make for the game. I have a very strong feeling that this game is going to lack a visual depth, well at least to the level that we are use to (spoiled I know but if we can have it - so should others). End of the day the set would need buildings that piece together like children's blocks in the scale of this game. Now that is the bugbear - finding out the scale. Most of the work has been done for this, it now falls into the megabash realm. Anyways this is all pie in the sky at this point. I suspect that this game just might be the next PotSM, a wildcard. I have been following this game for sometime now and I am looking forward to it. I think their game map and buildings are so-so and would benefit from some WWG love; this is something that has been discussed, but I can't say much more than that. |

Just looked at the pictures... the buildings now look like one unit deals that have a sliding info base. I was more happy with the destructible environment, something to reflect the mayhem. Like the fact that the units come in a standard and a hyper form - nifty so long as they actually come together. I was right about the game mat - a visual eunuch compared to what could be done. There is no background noise, little buildings that give the impression that there is more to that battlefield then a smattering handful of buildings. There is no compelling visual depth that should suck the eye into the game helping to build the story and game in the minds eye. Still going to get the figures ( DR999) but at the same time I'm thinking that those buildings have to go. Maybe a freeze and a quick twist? To me that game should have the Cloverfield look to it. End of the day I know that it's their game and not mine ,I do love the scale and really think that someone here (team someone) should really look into doing scaled terrain for these games (Mechwarrior, CAV, Heavy Gear or just big battles).
