While I pack my stuff and await the next developments, I am trying my hand at skinning aircraft for the WW2 simulator IL-2 Sturmovik. I have always wanted to see an Me163 Komet rocket plane in fictional Italian colours, so I used my PS skills to whip one up.

Italian colours actually work with the design.

Fortunately, our boys never had to deal with Komets colored that way during the War.
Not that the Komet was that great of an aircraft, but it did still have an impact on a few lives.
At least its impact was less than the Swallow.
Against the Swallow, escort fighters just could not help the bombers if the escorts were even slightly out of position.
Not that Allied fighters did not knock out of the sky a fair number of Swallows, but sometimes they could do nothing productive no matter how hard they tried.

Thanks! I really like this crazy little plane. It was WAY too much high technology stuffed into an airframe that was only 13 feet long. Only 17 kills were attributed to Komet pilots....but many more died in the testing process.

Quite tragic and a bit silly, but it was fun to make. I learned a lot, and may make a few more.
